I don't know the source of the image of the inside of the new Walksnail Avatar HD Goggles X below, but it has appeared on social media prior to the official goggle release. A YouTuber (Spinfast Drones) has also scheduled a premier (HERE) which shows a picture of the front of the goggles in the thumbnail, so it looks like the previous leaked image in post #29 of this thread were the actual goggles after all.

Here are the specs and features of the new Walksnail Avatar HD Goggles X which have been leaked prior to the official release. There is no integrated analog, but it looks like it has "AV in" socket which would allow an external module to be added like on the DJI FPV Goggles V1 & V2.

The "Replace VRX" feature apparently means that it has a separate VRX module board that can be replaced with a different one in future if Walksnail make any hardware improvements in the future. If that is what it is, I just hope Caddx aren't going to be using customers as beta testers where we start seeing numerous versions of the internal VRX module board getting released until they get things right, just like we've been seeing with the VTX's.

The price of them is rumoured to be $600 USD.

Certainly better than the originals, but I'll definitely wait and see what they screwed up on first.

Here is the replaceable VRX module board under a removeable panel on top of the goggles, and the input / output ports (AV In, HDMI In, and HDMI Out). It's nice to see that the SD Card is now on the outside of the goggles instead of inside in that awkward place between the lenses. I guess Fat Shark had no part to play in the design of these goggles Big Grin

$459 Preorder
Whats the MSRP, do you know that ?

and I really dislike the antenna placement. People that invested in antennas for the current goggles are fcked and need to reinvest because the XAir2s will now be strangely on top or hanging of the bottom .....

From the discussions going on I believe that $459 USD is the final price. There is no discount for pre-ordering.

Be aware that there is no ability to record from the AV input to the goggle DVR, so no goggle DVR for analog.

Here are the latency comparison tests for analog which was measured using a 1000fps camera and a TBS Fusion module, courtesy of Ian (Mads Tech)...

Take note of the following statement on the Walksnail Avatar HD Goggles X product page which I've highlighted in red. This means that Caddx are intending to replace that VRX module board in the Goggles X with a new one which is apparently coming next year. There will probably also be a new standalone VRX module too.

Caddx Wrote:
  • The front cover of the goggles can be removed and replaced with new antenna, replacing the two antennas located under the goggles, which provides pilots with more options to optimize their FPV experience.
  • The cover above the goggles can be opened for easy replacement of new receiver modules, providing pilots with a cost-effective way to upgrade their goggles. Meanwhile, we are developing the next generation receiving module, which can achieve a breakthrough in flight distance, expected to reach 20 kilometers, and develop a sustainable development strategy.

For omni antennas? I guess at these angles they should be better than at right angles. For patches usually come with various adapters.

I was told by Walksnail the $459 is the final price.
Walksnail also offers patch antenna that replaces the front cover, it looks like a neat setup: https://caddxfpv.com/collections/walksna...-x?aff=101

The Artosyn AR9201 used in the V1 goggles is EOL, but it seems like the successor is not yet available in quantity. The assumption is sometime next year they'll switch over to the new version.

Ian at Mads Tech also pointed out that the swap is not as straightforward as it looks in that render photo, ie it is certainly not something you'd want to do regularly should other internal modules become available (eg HDZ).
