Tomoquads Katana 2
#1
These 4 inch micro long range deadcats are becoming popular!

I honestly don't know which one I like better between this (name is sick so points for that), the Airblade UAV Transformer Mini, or the Dave C custom I have.  I kinda want them all lol.   Big Grin

I like that a lot! I've been thinking about building a 4" long range myself and I like your frame. I also like the price of this one. I might have to pull the trigger on this one.  Thinking

If I had to pick now that I've salivated over them for a few days lol, I think the Airblade UAV is the better thought out design with a dedicated camera cage and rear arm crossbars. The Katana to me seems like a refined version of Dave C's. But I am willing to bet that Dave C's is probably the lightest of them all.

Still, I want them all LOL. (But I can't cos in the end, I still have most fun with my 5 inchers.)

Yeah they are all pretty nice. CNC Madness makes a 5" Dave C's frame. I bet that would make a nice long range quad.

Hi ronin,
I like the looks of that Tomoquads frame. Yeah, I also like the red hardware on it...SWEET  Cool
Overall, I think the deadcat design is nice and helps keep the props out of the video.

Got mine in yesterday. This thing is smaller than I thought lol. I think its the same size as my 3" frame. I get the rest of the components next week and then its build time! I have some 4" props coming too. I just put the 3" props om there to see how it looked with them on.

Nice!! Didn't you also get a Transformer Mini? You're not gonna go for a 4" biblade micro long range?

I might get a Katana. They're having a 15% off Father's Day sale.

No I didnt get a transformer mini. I was working on a 3" build but decided to do the micro long range instead. So yes this is going to be a long range build. Don't know about biblades but still considering. The props I ordered are triblade. the props on here are just some 3" props I had laying around.

This frame is super light. I'm hoping to keep it under 250 grams with the lipo. Should get some good flight times out of this one! Thumbs Up

Looking slick man!! Really want one now lol.

I'd consider some shaftless motors. Tmotor just came out with these sick looking 1507's shaftless. I've got Xing 1404s on my 4" micro long range.

Hi ronin,

That's ok, I was sort of looking for a "real" 4" frame anyway. Big Grin  The website is nice and I found some other items that I had been looking for as well; particularly, a decent camera mount for the 26x26 diagonal bolt pattern on most toothpicks. So, I decided to just go ahead and place an order and get a bunch of stuff.  I also got 4 extra back arms for a Katana 2 (because they are longer than the front ones). Yeah, have I got plans for those.   Thinking

My recent quad builds are essentially "test beds" for upgrade parts and components that I will eventually use in a long range build which will likely end up being a 4 incher. Recall that the Phantom-X arm extensions are setup for 4 inch props. I expect this to be the sweet spot for me.

Got my order from TomoQuads yesterday Smile ... Katana 2 frame, some frame arms, and a bunch of 3D printed parts. The quality is really good. I am very pleased with the TomoQuads products.

Now that I have a frame, I will need to work on the other parts. Thinking

I guess I need to accelerate the Phantom-X testing.  Wink

Oh Yeah, those extra Katana 2  back arms (the longer ones) are perfect for a 5 inch build.  Dodgy

Thanks ronin  High Five  and wllmlutz  High Five

Hell yeah man! I'm pleased with them as well. Nice tight frame. I designed some motor skids for this frame and I can send you the stl files if you want to have them printed for yours.
They fit mine perfect. I usually send my files to Brain3D and have them print it for me. Until I get a printer of my own. Let me know and I'll hook you up.
