I do not think anyone in their senses will want to invest in a V2, let alone a V3. Unfortunately people have very short lived memories. Any reviewers you know that owned V1 goggles and bought the V2 goggles with their own money? Albert Kim? Paweł Spychalski? Mr Steele? None of them were sent a pair by DJI and none of them bought a pair of V2's. It is almost certain that any future V3(+) goggles will only work with the DJI FPV Drone (and/or a new iteration of that drone). I would be extremely surprised if we were to see any V3(+) goggles that are backward compatible with the standalone FPV system now that DJI appear to have abandoned any further development on that. Even reviewers who were actually given a pair of the V2 goggles for free by DJI don't seem to be using them with the standalone FPV system. They still seem to be using their V1 goggles. That probably says enough about the V2 goggles and some of the frustrations surrounding them. • Posts: 21,188 Threads: 582 Likes Received: 8,930 in 6,606 posts Likes Given: 1,425 Joined: Jun 2018 Reputation: 786 For anyone who has issues with the V2 goggles and are getting the black screen / reboot issue, can you please reply to Ian's questions in the following RCG post linked to below. He has some contacts at DJI so probably has more chance than most at trying to get something done about some of the issues. https://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthre...st47414989 Mads Tech Wrote:All For those who have had the issue on the V2 can you please let me know the following. I’m starting to see a few more reports now my self. Are you seeing Black Scree or Rebooting ? If rebooting do you see the full normal boot up sequence ? Are you using the DJI Battery or a Lipo ? Do you have an SD Card Onboard Goggles ? If black screen does the menus still work ? Can you change channel ? As much info as possible will be handy and I’ll see if those bridges are still burning • Posts: 21,188 Threads: 582 Likes Received: 8,930 in 6,606 posts Likes Given: 1,425 Joined: Jun 2018 Reputation: 786 Ian has put out a video on the V2 goggles blackout / rebooting issue... • Posts: 21,188 Threads: 582 Likes Received: 8,930 in 6,606 posts Likes Given: 1,425 Joined: Jun 2018 Reputation: 786 Wow. So downgrading the firmware causes other headaches if you also use the V2 goggles with a DJI FPV Drone. The mess gets even bigger. Way to go DJI. Source (RC Groups): https://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showpost...ount=11974 thetechnobear Wrote:heads up... this does not work if you want to switch between DJI FPV drone and Air Unit. if you downgrade to 0606, the next time you switch DJI FPV mode and connect the dji fpv drone... it will say goggle/aircraft firmware mismatch, please update goggle firmware via dji fly... so this is not viable, unless you want to keep upgrading/downgrading every time you want to switch. the only 'solution' would be for us to downgrade to 1.0.1 dji fpv drone firmware, which would include goggles/drone/batteries and controllers. and this is not available, and I suspect will not be made availabe to us so for now choice is - upgrade/downgrade very time you switch - leave it on 1.0.2.0 and risk it. - buy another set of v2 goggles to run different versions of firmware • Posts: 21,188 Threads: 582 Likes Received: 8,930 in 6,606 posts Likes Given: 1,425 Joined: Jun 2018 Reputation: 786 DJI have today release new firmware for the DJI FPV Goggles V2 which supposedly fixes the screen blackout / rebooting issue mid flight and while playing back DVR. Who is going to be brave enough to try it? Source (DJI Forum): https://forum.dji.com/thread-246283-1-1.html Overview:- Date: 2021.07.15
- Aircraft Firmware: v01.02.0000
- Goggles Firmware: v01.02.0001
- Remote Controller firmware: v01.02.0000
- DJI Fly App iOS: v1.4.8
- DJI Fly App Android: v1.4.8
What’s New?- Fixed rare issue: goggles restarted automatically when in DJI Digital FPV System mode.
Notes:- Restart the aircraft, remote controller, and goggles after the update is complete.
- Note that the update may reset various flight parameters such as the RTH altitude and the maximum flight distance. Before updating, take note of your preferred settings and readjust them after the update.
- If the update fails, restart aircraft, remote controller, goggles, and DJI Fly or DJI Assistant 2 (DJI FPV series), and retry.
This fix has been made to the DJI FPV Drone mode firmware only so don't forget that you need to switch the goggles to DJI FPV Drone mode before applying the update using the DJI Assistant 2 (FPV Series) software on your computer. • Posts: 590 Threads: 16 Likes Received: 176 in 149 posts Likes Given: 26 Joined: Jun 2021 Reputation: 8 At this point I'm thinking about sourcing a good set of v1 goggles, just to keep as a spare. I have v1 now, and worry if anything happens to them I might have to upgrade to v2. Anyone know if there is a source for new(or at least perfect condition) v1 goggles? I can't believe the problems people are going through with the v2's. I almost spat my coffee out when I saw that "DJI Activation Brick" made from a stripped DJI FPV Quad being mailed around to a long list of people just so they could activate and use the product they just paid $600 for! If you have a set of v2 and it is working good right now, I wouldn't update ANYTHING. • Posts: 642 Threads: 34 Likes Received: 280 in 190 posts Likes Given: 46 Joined: May 2021 Reputation: 6 There are no real problems with v2 googles with firmware version v01.00.0606. That's what worries me most, needing new goggles and not being able to activate them because I only use Air Unit and not the FPV Drone. • Posts: 1,197 Threads: 59 Likes Received: 592 in 395 posts Likes Given: 210 Joined: Mar 2019 Reputation: 42 Yeah I just activated a new set 2 days ago with no problems. • Posts: 195 Threads: 28 Likes Received: 29 in 17 posts Likes Given: 22 Joined: Feb 2021 Reputation: 1 22-Jul-2021, 06:49 AM (This post was last modified: 22-Jul-2021, 09:34 AM by d00lar.) activation problems are mostly on mac osx as i read i have v2 and line 3 my friends all of us activated on windows within 30s and never had any issues (other than reboots after this previously relased bad firmware) • Posts: 21,188 Threads: 582 Likes Received: 8,930 in 6,606 posts Likes Given: 1,425 Joined: Jun 2018 Reputation: 786 I think the biggest problem with the V2 goggles is if you intend to also use them for the DJI FPV Drone because if you want all the latest features on that then you also have to upgrade the goggles to the latest firmware version as well, which means you can't remain on the original V01.00.06.06 standalone FPV system firmware. If however you only use the V2 goggles for just the standalone FPV system or for the DJI FPV Drone then you can easily just remain on the firmware of your choosing. If you do remain on the original V01.00.06.06 firmware then the bug will still remain that if you inadvertently let the battery voltage drop too low that the goggles will automatically flip into DJI FPV Drone mode with the possibility of there being no option available to switch them back to standalone FPV mode again. The workaround would be to update the goggles to the newest firmware, flip them back to standalone FPV system mode, and then downgrade the firmware back to V01.00.06.06 again. This is also assuming that DJI don't pull that older firmware and make it unavailable. The whole situation is still a complete ball ache if you only run your V2 goggles with the standalone FPV system. The V1 goggles are still the King if you only fly quads with the standalone DJI FPV system. With lots of people seemingly leaving the hobby, there have been quite a few pre-owned sets of V1 goggles up for sale recently on the FPV marketplace groups. • Posts: 590 Threads: 16 Likes Received: 176 in 149 posts Likes Given: 26 Joined: Jun 2021 Reputation: 8 OK. That makes me feel better. I don't own, nor will I ever own, that DJI Drone. I would only ever use the goggles for Air Units / Vistas, so as long as I can do that then I'm alright! After reading up on that ridiculous "DJI Activation Brick" being mailed around, I started to be much more careful with my v1 goggles. • Posts: 4,550 Threads: 38 Likes Received: 1,245 in 1,064 posts Likes Given: 430 Joined: Aug 2020 Reputation: 118 23-Jul-2021, 03:50 AM (This post was last modified: 23-Jul-2021, 03:52 AM by kafie1980.) I know I can find cheaper prices if I shop around. My point posting that example was now that the original DJI AU is no longer in production (yes I know Caddx is selling them now but with a different camera). Eventually someone will buy that listed item and set an example. Thereafter slowly the prices will rise up. Eventually anyone who is invested in the DJI system will grab what ever they can get their hands on today and then what do we do? At that price point a couple of those can get me a cheap brand new motorcycle in Thailand • |
