Over on RCG I read some reports from a few people who appear to be complaining about black screens and rebooting during flight with the newer firmware installed which is every pilot's worst nightmare. So this new firmware might be one step forward and two steps back. Well done DJI.

Super dangerous.

It will be hard to revert back the old firmware version (if possible) without the DJI FPV drone.

DJI have made a right balls-up with the V2 goggles. It's because the hardware in them was primarily designed for use with the DJI FPV Drone, with the dual boot firmware for the standalone FPV system then cobbled onto them as an after thought. What I don't understand is that the only firmware update to fix the low power issue was to the DJI FPV Drone firmware. So I don't get how that can affect anything when the goggles have been booted into the standalone FPV mode. The DJI FPV Drone firmware must still be running in the background and playing some part in running the goggles even if they are booted into standalone FPV mode. It's a complete mess.

I was pissed about the V2 goggles being announced literally a week or two after my V1 goggles got delivered, but after reading about various issues with the V2 goggles since they were released I somehow feel like I managed to dodge a bullet (knock on wood). I know there are plenty of people flying with the V2 goggles but it is issues like this that would make me feel super nervous about flying with them.

DJI should bring back production of the V1 goggles for the standalone FPV system and just let the V2 goggles be for use with the DJI FPV Drone only. But they won't do that unfortunately.

Ok that's good news to V2 owners.

For reference, below are links to posts on RCG relating to a black screen and/or the DJI FPV Goggles V2 rebooting mid flight with the new firmware, so quite a few users have experienced the same issue which means it's not an isolated problem. Some great testing by DJI Rolleyes I wonder how many people have lost expensive quads because of this issue.

And now I have to de-crypt this alien language that contains the mod for the 2W output power on DJI goggles Smile

With all of these issues plaguing the V2 goggles, if it was me I would probably be thinking about selling the V2 goggles (or demote them for use as audience mode only goggles) and try to get hold of a pre-owned set of the V1 goggles which appear to be much more reliable. Other than user inflicted sun burn spots on the screens, I haven't heard of any real issues with the V1 goggles.

The solution is simple. Avoid the V2 goggles and get some pre-owned V1 goggles Smile

ah, dont worry, they will come out with a v3, great picture but even worse user experience. Also they need to shut down usb video out :-)

V3? I do not think anyone in their senses will want to invest in a V2, let alone a V3. Unfortunately people have very short lived memories.

Any reviewers you know that owned V1 goggles and bought the V2 goggles with their own money? Albert Kim? Paweł Spychalski? Mr Steele? None of them were sent a pair by DJI and none of them bought a pair of V2's.
