*** IMPORTANT *** DJI FPV Goggles V2 v01.00.06.07 Firmware Update Warning
#1
This is a repost of a statement issued by Ian (Mads Tech) yesterday regarding new v01.00.06.07 firmware for the DJI FPV Goggles V2. This firmware update is only for the V2 goggles and doesn't exist for or apply to the V1 goggles.

Unfortunately the whole dual firmware thing on V2 goggles is a complete minefield and even updating one of the firmwares can have an adverse effect on the other firmware so be extremely cautious when upgrading either firmware if you want to keep any fpv.wtf root hack / WTFOS functionality.

Mads Tech Wrote:DJI have published a new firmware for the DIY mode ie for use with the vista and DJI Air-unit on the Goggles V2 with the version number 01.00.0607 that blocks the FPV.WTF Root Hack and WTFOS.

If you update to this you will not be able to downgrade and you will not be able to root or install the WTFOS.

If you have already rooted and upgrade we believe you may be ok and it will still work however it’s not something you should risk.

Just to note the Goggles V2 have multiple firmware stacks and the drone and FPV side are separate and are updated separately. This does not affect the update to V01.04.0000 for the DJI O3 Air unit in drone mode on the v2 goggles and you are still safe to update to this FW for use with O3 but you should again perform any root hacks in advance.

Again in DIY Mode on the Goggles V2 do not update via assistant 2.

This applies to DJI Goggles V2 only.

EDIT: Release notes for the v01.00.06.07 firmware added below...

DJI Wrote:Release Notes

Overview:
  • Date: 2022.11.22
  • Air Unit Firmware: v01.00.06.08
  • Goggles V1 Firmware: v01.00.06.08
  • Goggles V2 Firmware: v01.00.06.07
  • Remote Controller Firmware: v01.00.06.08
  • DJI Assistant 2 (Consumer Drones Series): v2.1.14
What's New?
  • Added support to use DJI FPV Goggles V2 with DJl Avata. Tap Settings then Device and select Switch to DJI Avata.
Notice:
  • Restart the air unit, goggles, and remote controller once the update is complete.
  • If the firmware update fails, restart the device and DJI Assistant 2 (Consumer Drones Series), and try updating again.
  • Goggles must be manually restarted each time after switching system.
  • To switch goggles back to DJI Digital FPV System from DJI FPV or DJI Avata, tap Settings then About and select Switch to DJI Digital FPV System.
  • Update the Air Unit (Lite) when there is good ventilation. Make sure that both the goggles and remote controller are powered off before updating the Air Unit (Lite). DO NOT touch the Air Unit (Lite) during update since the temperature rises. If update fails, wait for the Air Unit (Lite) to cool down and try to update again.

I am a bit confused.. Got the V2 goggles and the O3 unit on its way, can I use different firmwares or am I forced to update to 01.00.0607? Not using any hack but it would be nice to keep all doors open Smile

No, do NOT update the (DIY) DJI Digital FPV System mode firmware on your V2 goggles. Leave it on whatever firmware version it is currently on in the (DIY) DJI Digital FPV System mode (which should be v1.00.06.06).

To make your V2 goggles compatible with the new O3 Air Unit, switch the goggles to DJI FPV mode and then update the firmware in that mode only to V01.04.0000 using the DJI Assistant 2 (Consumer Drones Series) software on your computer. According to the fpv.wtf devs, doing that won't affect the (DIY) DJI Digital FPV System mode firmware or the ability to root the goggles.

I have also now added the release notes for the v1.00.06.07 firmware to the first post. From the minimal notes that DJI have published it appears that they have simply just changed the description from "DJI FPV" to "DJI Avata" in the menu that allows you to switch firmware modes, but if that new firmware version now prevents rollback to previous versions and has patched out the fpv.wtf root exploit, DJI have clearly done more than what they state in that one liner "What's New?" release note statement. Never trust DJI Big Grin

EDIT: If you want to play it safe, root your goggles first before you do any firmware updates. Once they have been rooted, future firmware updates don't unroot the goggles. Some of the newer firmwares just prevent you from rooting a pair of goggles that haven't already previously been rooted. However, even with a persisted root the WTFOS packages aren't guaranteed to work on later firmware versions. That is why you should be cautious with firmware upgrades (especially ones that prevent rollback to earlier firmware versions) and only do so once the fpv.wtf devs have confirmed everything to be working on newer firmware versions.

Hi guys.
Is this new v01.00.0607 version compatible with caddx vista?
I am trying to activate goggles V2 and DA2 makes me update to this (latest for now) version, but there is not possibility to downgrade version to 0606 for instance. So, I am afraid to have compatibility problems once update to v01.00.0607 version.

Do your goggles work ok at present? If they do, why update them?

Update things if they are broken, don't update things that work ok. Also if you see some new feature, say the goggles with the new firmware will now let you fly 100 miles away. Ask yourself, do you need to fly 100 miles away? If all you do is fly your quad around your house, what point is there to updating it?
