Just finished the build  : https://intofpv.com/t-2s-crux3-toothpick-build

No flying yet, but the build is very easy with this DarwinFPV board.  Great solder pad layout on new version of it.

Hi MrSolo,

I have checked out your build thread. Nice Build.  Thumbs Up

As referenced in your build thread, I am interested to see how it flies with the default factory tune.

I have an EMAX THF frame that I bought as a spare when I got my THF...just sitting in the parts bin.

So, at some point, I will do a build with that frame and a standard 26x26 whoop format board. Specifically, I want to document the mounting of the whoop board in the THF frame.

Thanks.

Iflydrones.. go back a page, I posted photos of adapter plates for the TH and THF frames for a whoop fc. These were some by JoshuaA here in the forum..
Also, Tarek at Cyclonefpv just did a video about usb plug repairs AND relocation.. so I may just install. Remote usb plug instead of rotating the board..
gotta see what the uart situation is with this fc..
I will do a “build” will all the info..

Hi Rob,

Yeah, I did see your adapter plates. Yes, they look good.

Now, I don't have a 3D printer so my adapters will be hand fabricated...you know, old school. Also, I want to show the entire build; the parts, the build process, technics, and the finished craft. I will be doing the build anyway, so why not document it. I believe it is a good thing to have more than one build thread.

Do you have the link to Tarek's USB relocation?

I didn’t even THINK about a 20x20 aio…or a stack for that matter..i was on the tinyhawk fc alternative, and discovered a standard 16x16 whoop fc AND a inverted frame change would work better than working around the original Th frame…
The Freestyle just happened to share the same fc so it kinda kept me on that path.. hence the Darwin fc..
The worst part of this is … I watched that video at one point a WHILE back..

Got the FC in yesterday, gave it a quick once over and gotta say out of the box...im a little impressed.  This FC is actually layered, there are 2 sets of pads for the motors that pass through so you can go top or bottom, ans made it easier for the user with larger motor pads if you were not gonna solder the plugs.
Plugged it into BF, came loaded with 4.2.5 .. I am gonna have to remap the motors, the usb is facing down in the configurator.  This also came with the VTX tables already installed.  I wonder if Darwin did this or if the BF Devs just started to say.. EFF it?
gonna TRY to post some pics...  Sorry, didnt get to install it yet... i took my first 6s maiden out today... bounced it and squashed 2 motors..

I was impressed with the solder pads and layout of the board too.  I think (so far) they made a great AIO for micros at only $40 USD.  I like the pad layout as 'like pads' are next to each other to make things easy when installing.  I wish they would make a manual, or at least update the wiring diagram, as the one shown is for the original version of the Darwin board that only had 1.5 uArts.(new board has 2 uArts, making Crossfire use easier)

I've only done 2 good flights with it so far, 6 packs each.  But its working great, easy to install, and have taken 2 good crashes with no problems.  Can't speak to longevity, but so far I think this DarwinFPV is a great choice for a micro/whoop AIO board.  And as you said, tables were all set up, and it comes on a new version of BF.

I can also say it handled being soaking wet from a sprinkler and still works great.  If it lasts long enough to be worth $40, then this would definitely be a 'go-to' board for a cheap but quality micro build in the future.

My only complaint is a complete lack of documentation/manual, or even a website with info.  (check out the DarwinFPV site, it sells mostly clothes and food from what I could tell.) Wink

Otherwise I give it a Thumbs Up

EDIT: Forgot to add, the USB facing down fits in the Babytooth Frame, TP3 Frame, and the Crux3 frame without having to flip the board.

Here is an adapter Joshua A. sent me ..Unfortunately as you can see the USB wont clear the sides, i may either just file it or cur it completely.  I installed the board with the USB to the side (Like the TH AIO), but I may flip it...it will also put all the solder pads "up"...
There is a lot of room as you can see...
The adapter gives me an idea for the RX and VTX .....

low and behold Axe-Max Tinyhawk Freakstyle.....
I tried to mount the FC with the usb down, it fit without issue.  I just did not like the motor wire routing. Maiden only on 2s, no changes to rates, gonna dial it in, rpm filters, ect.  THEN i will charge the 3s and do a FULL SEND.....
I will say I am very happy with the Darwin FC so far... lets see how well it holds up..

Burned some 2s packs, changed the rates to what was originally on the freestyle.. burned some 3s 350mh packs…
HOLY SMOKE… this thing is on another level! It’s FAST, and still corners like it’s on rails…
I know I will be repairing this soon (pilot error), gonna be curious how the fc holds out.. I may order one since I am REAL HAPPY. With the results!! And recommend it if ur emax fc dies…
