Ive built boat 8quads and none have done this type of wobble and motors sound wobbly after takeoff. After a few punches and 30 seconds of flight it goes away?? I'll try another clip to see if it shows vibration better but it seems to only happen after takeoff. • Posts: 4,550 Threads: 38 Likes Received: 1,245 in 1,064 posts Likes Given: 430 Joined: Aug 2020 Reputation: 118 Can you give some specs of the build? Props? Are they terribly imbalanced? I mean no one balances props on a 5” and below but do you have another set of props to test (preferably another brand/model)? • Posts: 1,843 Threads: 203 Likes Received: 346 in 264 posts Likes Given: 306 Joined: May 2020 Reputation: 11 30-Apr-2022, 06:58 AM (This post was last modified: 30-Apr-2022, 07:01 AM by Rob3ddd.) I put on another new set of props and no improvement. Can you see the bobbles after the first turn? If I fly for 30 seconds or go past a throttle setting it’s smooth. It looks like a bent or out of balance prop but once I fly for 30 seconds it stops and won’t repeat symptoms until I put in another battery. First 20 seconds if I don’t punch throttle it looks like camera is lose but I can also hear motors gurgling or maybe it’s prop wash. I tried pitching forward on the ground after arming and back end wobbles up and down a bit. I’m curious if turning off the gyro completely would rule out a bad gyro if it had one? • Posts: 4,550 Threads: 38 Likes Received: 1,245 in 1,064 posts Likes Given: 430 Joined: Aug 2020 Reputation: 118 I did initially think it was a gyro issue which probably improves a short while after take off but I have not experienced such a scenario before. Without a replacement FC its hard to prove its a gyro issue. I doubt you can disable the gyro because then the FC or Betaflight will not function. • Posts: 2,363 Threads: 118 Likes Received: 814 in 661 posts Likes Given: 128 Joined: Feb 2021 Reputation: 20 It is the video signal , or whole quad “wobbling”after take off.. when u fly LOS can u visibly see the quad wobble? • Posts: 1,843 Threads: 203 Likes Received: 346 in 264 posts Likes Given: 306 Joined: May 2020 Reputation: 11 30-Apr-2022, 03:27 PM (This post was last modified: 30-Apr-2022, 03:42 PM by Rob3ddd.) I tried a racer's takeoff where the rear end is raised while front feet are on the ground and I could see the rear end wobble and a lot of prop wash. One thing that may be something to consider is after 30 seconds of flying it flies great which makes me think I may have overlooked something flashing ESC.I've put 8 packs through it and after a few punches it flies great. If I land and take off without unplugging lipo the wobbles aren't there. If I plug in lipo and take off in low power wobble, wobble, but a few punches and it stops. I will post 4n1 readout, dump, and more specs a bit later today. My iMac is really starting to be a headache. It just isn't consistent with firmware,SDcards or videos • Posts: 2,363 Threads: 118 Likes Received: 814 in 661 posts Likes Given: 128 Joined: Feb 2021 Reputation: 20 30-Apr-2022, 05:31 PM (This post was last modified: 30-Apr-2022, 05:35 PM by Rob Axel.) Do a good visual inspection, make sure all your hardware is tight and actually there. Then trying to reflash, ur fc and ESCs (backup the original).. you can either update or go back a version .. some components don’t like newer firmware .. If it is still there, try using black box to help locate your problem.. I never used it, I had a desync motor issue and it showed where it was.. it’s not rocket surgery.. if I can do it ANYONE can. • Posts: 1,843 Threads: 203 Likes Received: 346 in 264 posts Likes Given: 306 Joined: May 2020 Reputation: 11 (30-Apr-2022, 05:31 PM)Rob Axel Wrote: Do a good visual inspection, make sure all your hardware is tight and actually there. I’m going to go back to ground zero on the firmware and 4n1 version. Radix Li doesn’t have a black box and using HDZero prevents brainfpv PID graphs. I know the actual soldering, mounting and screws are all properly done but firmware or computer work is my liability. I think since it goes away after a few full throttle punches and it gets some average voltages and restarts after unplugging LiPo it’s firmware related. I have it on Dshot300 but dshot600 did it also. Motors spin true without props and no errors with bidirectional. • Posts: 1,843 Threads: 203 Likes Received: 346 in 264 posts Likes Given: 306 Joined: May 2020 Reputation: 11 I bumped up from dhsot300 to 600,turned up idle to 6.5 and PIDs back on bidirectional default. Mechanically everything is tight. The tpu mount of freestyle Vtx allows some up and down movements of the vtx. I’ll try another flight today and see what happens. PWM frequency is at 24mhz. • Posts: 4,550 Threads: 38 Likes Received: 1,245 in 1,064 posts Likes Given: 430 Joined: Aug 2020 Reputation: 118 Whats firmware are you running the FC and ESC? You might want to ensure you are on the latest stable releases just to rule out any possibility of bugs in the firmware. • Posts: 1,843 Threads: 203 Likes Received: 346 in 264 posts Likes Given: 306 Joined: May 2020 Reputation: 11 (30-Apr-2022, 09:45 AM)kafie1980 Wrote: I did initially think it was a gyro issue which probably improves a short while after take off but I have not experienced such a scenario before. I’ve reflashed all firmware and 4.2.9 is what I use on all my quads and same bladeheli 32 version. I’m going to mount my vtx with 3M instead of the tpu mount. The tpu mount allows the vtx to move around in it needs not hit frame which may create some vibration. I tried horizon mode and only got wobbles on forward pitch same in acro mode. It’s a head scratcher and without black box I’m guessing. • Posts: 1,843 Threads: 203 Likes Received: 346 in 264 posts Likes Given: 306 Joined: May 2020 Reputation: 11 01-May-2022, 05:09 AM (This post was last modified: 01-May-2022, 02:28 PM by Rob3ddd.) I’m going to eliminate all possible sources of components transferring vibration. I have my battery wires touching the side of FC so I will move them in case they are transferring vibration. I used xt30 3-pin motor connectors and taped them directly to arms and maybe they are vibrating so I’ll put some 3M under them and try again tomorrow. I tossed the vtx tpu mount it was allowing the vtx to move around in the tpu so I used 2 layers of 3M to mount with. When I’m done everything will be soft mounted and if that doesn’t work onto PID tuning. • Posts: 4,550 Threads: 38 Likes Received: 1,245 in 1,064 posts Likes Given: 430 Joined: Aug 2020 Reputation: 118 Any wires touching the gyro chip on the FC? JB did a video about this causing issues during flight but I still don’t understand why it only happens for the first 30 seconds? It feels as if the FC needs to warm up to temperature before it can stabilize the flight. Not sure if this is even a thing? • Posts: 1,843 Threads: 203 Likes Received: 346 in 264 posts Likes Given: 306 Joined: May 2020 Reputation: 11 (30-Apr-2022, 10:45 PM)kafie1980 Wrote: Whats firmware are you running the FC and ESC? I'm using Betaflight gyro debugging sensor tab and this FC behaves differently than all my FC including Radix 1 and 2. I see movement in the gyro line but none of the debug graphs move like my other FC do when I move the quad. • |
