Motor RUN-AWAY
#1
OK im hooked up to Betaflight checking config.... getting ready to do a maiden flight.  when powered up the motors idle at 1025 where set...but when throttle is increased and brought back down .. the motors continue to rev higher and higher... im guessing to about 1200 / 1300....and will not come back down to idle... i rebinded the receiver .... and went on BLHeli and calibrated the ECS's  and still the same... in all my flight modes..  "ANGLE, HORIZON, and ACRO" ..  and i noticed that when i pick up the quad and move it around "front to back / tilt side to side i can feel the motors compensating like in a safe mode...   NOW .. i went back in and upgraded the FC the the Newest Colibi race firmware 3.3.1 and did not put the ANGLE and HORIZON modes in .  and all seems to be OK now.......

Are you talking about doing this on your bench with no props on? This is quite normal

That happened to me once. Turned out that Air Mode was on. I went round and round trying to figure it out and made a video showing the problem. I was about to post it when I decided to check one last thing and sure enough it caused that exact issue. Might not be yours but it's worth checking.

What's happenning is the FC is not seeing a change in the gyro trace when trying to compensate the quads angle/attitude. Without props on the bench the FC keeps trying to change motor speeds to get the quad oriented how it thinks it should be. In acro all motors will spool up similarly as the FC is not trying to level the craft, where with angle and horizon modes the FC is trying to level itself as soon as you arm.
Hope this clarifies things a bit.
Very normal Wink
