Bugs3 Project Revisit PIDS and Hoover video added BF 4.1. F4 FC with JESC ESC

Hi Rolo,

WOW, that is some experiment. The camera mount {and some other things} looks like something that I would do.

I started with tiny whoops and have just gone up from there. But, 7 inch is where it stops. I have two 7's in progress, but once they are complete, I will be back to sub 250 gram quads; mostly 3 inch and 4 inch.

Cheers  {yeah, they don't have a beer smiley}   High Five

UAV TECH ( mark spatz)
says that
Recommended motors for a 6″/7″ is 25xx+
Recommended motors for a 7″/8″ is 28xx+

so it have very small motors for a 7" bi blade prop, but thats what the original toy designers did
i think it was a flawed design from the start but again
that quad was designed as a toy

so no quality parts and electronics
Smile
i hope to tweak it for an acceptable fly
haven't take it outside since the last brain transplant, hope to start doing it soon and take a look at the black box logs

Yes but they are still 2 bladed props. They are large props I think for the same reason I'm saying, to have more surface area for better lift. I think 3 bladed will add stability as well.

The larger the props the slower the motors spin, I'm not sure how that converts to energy though. Does it SAVE energy? I really don't know, logic can only take you so far. But if it does then 3 bladed props might be the way to go, that's my guess.

However with larger batteries (more power) come slower spinning motors so maybe my whole premise is wrong and it has nothing to do with the size of the props, but that the props are just necessary for slower spinning motors instead of the other way around. I'm thinking and typing lol I should proly think then type.... but I'm literally leaving tomorrow for a 3 week vacation so I'm not gonna be around as much if at all.

thanks for the good vibes

it allways depends on the rotor-motor combination, general rule for efficiency is: as large, as lightweight as possible until the motor goes inefficiency.
a larger rotor provide more trust on the same rpm compared to a smaller rotor, this is the benefit about efficiency. if the rotor is to heavy to spin it, there will go energy into heat.
triblades are less efficiency, as more blades as less efficiency. the reason for inefficiency of much blades is mostly just rotorweight.
there is one thing where this change, if a very small rotor is choosen. a 2306 will be more efficiency on a 5blade 3inch prop than on a 2blade 3inch rotor; the increased propsurface of a 5blade rotor does provide more thrust per rpm. but if we compare a 5blade 3inch rotor to a 4inch twoblade, the larger blade is much more efficiency.
