2020-12-28 FrankenFly-2-4 Build # 9 Last Post My Journal
Now, I am naming this one FrankenFly-2-4 since it will be built with a hodge-podge of parts that I just happen to have in the parts bin; with NO additional purchases; is that a Frankenstein build or what![Huh Huh](https://intofpv.com/images/smilies/huh.png)
Oh yeah, this build will start as a 2.5 inch ducted, but will handle up to 4 inch props without ducts; hence 2-4.
I have wanted to build a "pusher" quad with ducts for some time now. A while back, I picked up a set of Taycan25 ducts; thought I build something with them, but didn't know what. They were just laying around in the parts bin; waiting.
Through my other builds, I have have collected and assortment of "parts" which include frame bases, motors, flight controllers, VTXs, cameras, and everything else needed to build a quad. I even have carbon fiber and plexiglass sheets for custom fabricated parts.
It will be interesting to see how this build compares to a stock Diatone Taycan 2.5 inch and the.ronin's Diatone Taycan build.
So...let's take these parts, throw them on the bench, mix well, blow on some magic dust, and see what happens.
____________ PARTS LIST ____________ { Complete }
Frame: Armattan Gecko 4 inch base plate
Custom fabricated plexiglass bottom plate and extra top plate
I am also using the Armattan Aluminum CAM brace mounts.
Ducts: Diatone Taycan 2.5 inch
FC: JHEMCU GHF-420 AIO 35A (single board, 20x20 mounting)
Motors: Flywoo NIN 1404 4850 kv Dave_C FPV edition
RX: FrSky XM+ {removed from Phantom-X, already bound to transmitter}
The GEPRC Phantom TPU antenna mount and tubes were removed from the Phantom-X.
VTX: Eachine Nano V2 with 20x20 plexiglass heat dissipation plate (came with the VTX).
Camera: Foxeer {removed from Phantom-X}
Props: EMAX AVAN Scimitar 2.5 x 1.9 x 3 tri-blades. I think these will be a good place to start.
These ones look just like the EMAX AVAN Rush 2.5 inch props which have good low end
yet are pretty efficient.
NOTE: I decided to go with the 4850 kv motors rather than the 3750 kv motors since this craft is NOT a long range rig
and could use just a little more "horsepower". We will see how it goes. Ain't nothing but a thing.![Tongue Tongue](https://intofpv.com/images/smilies/tongue.png)
I have attached my "Build" spreadsheet which contains the components used in the build; plus it has the Flight Data tab.
The Build has been completed. It is DONE.
