FC with integrated VTX short

I don't recall what radio you have. If you flash the R9MM through a separate S. Port other than the JR bay, make sure to remove the R9M module when you flash. I was getting an error when I left the R9M module inside the bay on my Horus.

I have the X-Lite.
I've cleaned the receiver with iso-alcohol and tried again reflashing with the module off, it flashed the firmware without errors this time but it won't bind. (Radio on bind mode, holding the bind button on the receiver and powering on the quad.)

It's the second R9MM that doesn't work for me. The first one i've ordered never worked, and this one all of sudden stopped working, it was great before. I don't know what to think or do. I really like to use this R9MM because is a cheap version of long range, and despite i don't fly long range, i love to have the ability to.

Check to see if the bind button is actually working.

The first receiver is likely just bad luck.

On the second one,if you crash into mud, it likely shorted. Consider conformal coating next time. I haven't never had a receiver from Frsky go bad.

Part of this hobby is replacing broken components.

The bind button is working since when I press it and power the quad, I got the green and red leds, indicating is on bind mode, it just never get bound.

Thabka for help, man!
I don't know why it is in that "state", I remember pushing the throttle up high just to check if the motors were spending correctly, and suddenly, no more response from the receiver.
I've just ordered a XM+ and I'm considering to buy another R9MM but the new one with OTA support.

I think you need the new R9M module to flash over the OTA. I don't have one myself. So I am not sure. I guess I can just watch a video.

So to do OTA update, you to have a radio with ACCESS firmware.

The Xlite can run Access, so i think i'll be covered. Let's see how it goes with the XM+, i mean, the range. I hope it's good.

Range should be similar.

Seriously? I was hoping that the R9MM surpass the XM+, also, I was kinda worried because I didn't want for the R-XSR since it seems to be a popular one, sadly not available here right now.

Sorry, I was thinking that you are comparing R-XSR to XM+. The range on R9MM will be much better than XM+.

Sorry for confusing you, my friend.
The XM+ and also a new Foxeer camera is coming, but I guess I'll have to order another R9MM since I love the range and reliability.

Question
Help needed!
Guys, i need a BIG CHUNK of help, i'm going nuts and my short experience doesn't help.

Following my problems with the FC burned (thread post), my receiver (R9MM) stopped working just because and i was never able to bind it to my TX. While inspecting the camera, i found that there was a capacitor or something that was misplaced and that thing probably caused a short that burned my FC.

I got a "new" FC from Bangood as replacement, just in case you wonder.

So, here is my current situation:

I got a brand new XM+ and a brand new Foxeer Falkor V2 camera with integrated OSD. So here is when this gets tricky and a pain in the *** at the same time:

  1. I've connected the receiver to the FC, and plugged my smoke stopper (just in case) to the battery, everything "booted up" with the whole beeps and i was able to bind RX/TX
  2. I've connected the camera to the FC using a 3 cables setup connector. The Foxeer have a 5 pins plug but since my FC only takes 4, i've used the old cable to easy connection. When i tried to connect the battery to the whole system and with the receiver and the camera connected, the FC partially booted, just the 3 initial beeps and the smoke stopper bulb was on (Oh no, a Short)
  3. I've disconnected the camera and left the receiver plugged, trie again and everything booted up.
  4. I've tried leaving the Foxeer camera connected to the FC without the receiver, again, a short acoording the smoke stopper.
  5. I've connected my old CADDX camera to the FC without the receiver and the FC booted up; tried to plug everything (Camera and receiver to the FC) and i got a short. What?

For some reason if the XM+ is connected and i'm using the old camera, i get a short, and in the other hand if i connect my new Foxeer Falkor to the FC without a receiver connected, again, a short.

Come on now, what the?

Any, ANY help would be deeply aprecciated.

The light can come on if the current draw is high. Especially on boot up with ESC initializing. It shouldn't continuously stay super bright. What bulb do you have on the smoke stopper and how many lipo cells are you using?
