Coming "Soon" -> v01.00.06.07 Firmware for the DJI FPV System
#1
EDIT (25th November 2022): The firmware detailed in this post never actually got released. Do not confuse it with the v01.00.06.07 firmware of the same version number that was released on 22nd November 2022 and which is mentioned in another post HERE. There is no fix in that firmware for the AV-IN issue or the "SD Card Slow" issue when recording to the full size Air Unit.

So after more than a year of radio silence, something seems to have kicked DJI into life with firmware updates for the standalone DJI FPV system.

Following the new v1.00.06.06 firmware release last week (see HERE) to support hardware changes to the Caddx Vista (apparently alternative chips used due to the global chip shortages), DJI are reportedly about to release another firmware "soon" that fixes some issues with analogue input and recording issues. It's not clear yet exactly what is supposedly fixed, but we can only hope it's the issue where when using an analogue module on the DJI FPV Goggles that the goggles just reboot to a black screen where the signal gets low (mostly prominent when using PAL analogue cameras), and also the "Slow SD Card" issues whereby a warning message of the same is put on the screen and the onboard Air Unit recording just stops, or gets corrupted.

If DJI keep this up and fix all of the existing known issues, plus implement Canvas Mode, all without breaking anything else in the process then they might well end up redeeming themselves. Let's just hope they continue to keep this up.

EDIT: The release notes below seem to confirm the above.

Completely agree. Fixing Analog input, SD Card issues and Canvas mode implementation and they are golden again.

On the other hand, in the shadows SharkByte has also been improving a lot. Whether this adds to the threat or not is another story.

HDZero or Divimath has now released a new Micro HDZero camera and the image is starting to become very impressive: https://www.hd-zero.com/product-page/hdz...ro-hd-mipi

A review on the new camera (raw unedited DVR in the video description links):

Ian (Mad's Tech) seems to be very sceptical as to whether DJI will ever actually release a firmware in with Canvas Mode implemented. That is quite a lot of work that DJI would have to commit to. So it might all just be talk by Caddx to try and keep people interested in the DJI FPV System and to keep the money rolling in for them. DJI have made numerous empty promises in the past which they then just silently dropped and never followed through with. So we will just have to wait and see if this is just another one of those and if their words actually mean anything this time. Don't forget it is Caddx who made the statements, but it is only DJI who have access and the ability to actually make any changes to the firmware.

Only time will tell how it all pan's out but hopefully in the end the user community get what they deserve: A quality FPV experience.

DJI release notes for the DJI FPV System V01.00.06.07 firmware has now been added to the first post. These notes were posted by a DJI beta tester.

So two months later and there seems to be no sign of the v01.00.06.07 firmware release from DJI, so I have no idea what is going on. It seems like Déjà vu all over again with delayed or fictitious firmware releases that never arrive.

Also, where is Canvas Mode that Caddx promised was being "worked on". More than likely that was all just hot air and pie-in-the-sky as suspected. Ian covered that in a video he released yesterday, linked below. I also see that the Betaflight GitHub pull request #9987 that was raised to implement the Warnings element workaround into Betaflight for the DJI FPV Goggles has now finally been closed with no action after initially getting rejected by the Betaflight devs Rolleyes

I saw that video this morning and not much to say apart from DJI keeping everyone in the dark about the promised "Canvas mode".
