Armattan Bobcat 200
#16
Hey guys, what would be the difference in flight characteristics between the "compressed X" (arms further up) and "true x" (how I have them now further back)?

I am now thinking of going compressed X but purely for build reasons. Namely, the rear motor wires really need to go a long ways for a true x. I had opted for true X also purely for build reasons - so those countersunk nuts wouldn't be directly under the rear stack.

I do notice that my other micro LRs are more of a "compressed X" if wheelbase is anything to go by.

It's like a regular X but it's smooshed, bruh.

Just got the carbon fiber cut of this adapter done by CNC Madness.  It is sick.   Big Grin

I posted the design on Thingiverse but if you want CNC Madness to cut you one, he has the exact same STL file:

Fitment ... check!  It always looks so roomy without the wiring lol. For the most part, I am mimicking the Roma build.

I opted to use one of the stack standoffs itself as a mount for a vertical Immortal T.  I'd be worried if this stack had the FC but it's just the RX and VTX.

I had to get creative with the whoop adapter mounting lol.   Thumbs Up

This may look like a lot of space for just a tiny Crossfire RX but just watch it will be pretty cramped with all the wiring harnesses.

The GPS mount for this frame was an *epic* pain in the ass to design lol.

I'm fairly comfortable with the stack spacing ...

I designed two styles of skids.  I think I'll opt for the original design without the spike.  And, yes, those holes are offset lol.  Airblade UAV got super sneaky with their motors and made them 9x12.  I really wish they didn't do that.

Now its onto motor harness management.  Yay.  Big Grin

That might be because it is the only Bobcat around LOL. I ordered direct from Armattan so the retailers just got them in stock.

To be honest, so far I would not recommend this frame. I personally do not regret getting it but I have really weird requirements which are a proper alu camera cage and die cut lipo pad lol. To me, a frame that nails those two things are a likely buy. Totally stupid I know but that's ok. So for "normal" people I believe this frame is way, way, way too heavy for wanting to be 4 inch LR. I am very curious to see how this works out.

the bobcat is declarated as cinematic platform, my understanding is its not made for lr, its made to be used as a non-propguarded cinewhoop :-) it might work nice there, weight wont be a downside, regardless flighttimes.
i believe its usable as a conematic platform but there are not a lot costumers for this specific need.

nice adapter design, its skinny, wont work with tpu? your first print was pla?
would be nice to get a comparison about material and vibrations from the log:-)
i used tpu mounts as softmount, dont know how to name that; they was "centered" to the mounting, this might be a difference

Yes, yours is probably the first to show up on the net. A few had popped up on Rotorbuild now.

It was touted as a micro long range by the designer but the weight and lack of GPS mount, design to fit DJI Air Unit probably makes it more an " efficient " medium range cruiser.

I was contemplating getting one but decided to build the Micro Apex but I
look forward to some flight footage and flight time of your Bobcat.

Hi Ronin,

Check out the Proper camera mounts (pic) on the GEPRC Phantom frame of my Phantom-X.

I also have these on the FrankenFly-2-4 (pic).

These are the Armattan Tadpole Aluminum Cam Brace that I get from PyroDrone.

They are a little pricey, but they are extremely light, work quite well, and look cool  Cool
