What is your favorite VTX Antenna ??
#1
I'm in the market to grab a few new VTX antennas, and I'm interested what everyone has had great experiences and not great experiences with.

1. Everyone says Foxeer Lollipops suck, but mine has been quite nice for me

2. Do you notice a clarity difference with different antennas ?

3. What is the worst you have used?

Hi BigBeard,

So far, the best video antenna that I have used is the VAS Minion Pro.
I also have a VAS SkyHammer on my goggles.

I use the small form factor foxeer lollipops with mmcx conector. It's flexible, short and it works great.

edit: mmcx connector, not ufl.

I'm a believer of VAS antennas - I just wonder if I can get that performance in a cheaper form factor lol.

I use a mad mushroom v2 and a pepperbox on my goggles, and it feels like infinite range.

VAS fan here as well. Lumenier and TrueRC have also been good for me. But I think IBCrazy works closely with the Lumenier / getFPV guys.

I have no issues using a Foxeer Lollipop on the quad but it's a V1 and those were the best ones (the internals were a complete clone / rip-off of the Lumenier AXII). After they were threatened by Lumenier the design on the Lollipop V2 and V3 was changed but it's not quite as good as the V1 was.

You get what you pay for....cheaper rarely means better.

You can't go wrong with VAS or TrueRC.

The Pepperbox is just magic for a goggle antenna.

Any thoughts on the minion pro or ion pro? I'm worried they are too short on the back of a freestyle quad with a gopro and top mounted battery.

Good to think about that, but a true freestyle quad is rolling and flipping nearly continuously so the issues critical to long range aren't as important on a freestyle quad.

But with that said the only negative to a longer antenna on a freestyle quad is more likely to be damged in a crash.

Also, the antenna can be lengthen with an extension...depending on the connection type.

My VTX's all have U.FL connectors so I buy U.FL extensions which seem to work fine and come in 2 lengths.

If the antenna has an SMA connector, there are an assortment of pigtails.

Yes for freestyle extentions are fine.  For LR, no!

I’m using VAS.
I figure since VAS makes antennas for Ethix and TBS they are up to a high standard.
I use Ethix VAS mad Mushroom because the stem is longer than VAS and gets it above my head otherwise I would have gotten VAS and saved $5.
I use VAS crosshair patch and omnidirectional Ethix Mushroom on my receiver.
I have used foxxeer lollipops on receiver and I am able to fly in a big circle with me in the middle.

I’m trying truerc LR antenna currently on my quad and can’t complain.

My receiver reception did go up when I switched to VAS.
I may have to get another mushroom and crossfire patch for they say mixing antenna types with skyzone receiver causes performance to drop??

cheapo tbs dipole matches my sort of flying best :-) the most doesnt even try them, their reputation is bad xD but they are very good for racing, shortrange...

The Lumenier AXII's on my smaller quads that are weight conscious. Finally settled on a VAS on my 7". Both work perfectly in the ranges I fly, one to three kilometers. All of my VTX's are MMCX except for the Explorer which is U.FL. I like the more solid connection of the MMCX style.

I really cannot tell too much difference between the two designs in the ranges I have been flying.
SoCal Kaity :D
OMG, no one told me it would be this much fun!  Addicted :)
