tiny whoop for indoor
#1
Hello Smile

i would like to buy a tiny whoop, with these models i could fly everywhere ?

also in a big city where uscually is not possible fly with any other models, also a DJI under 249 grams ?

otherwise i don' t have lot opportunity to fly in the city with standard 5" drones.

i think to fly in a Park in Rome i should use a toy drone like this :
https://www.banggood.com/Emax-Tinyhawk-I...mds=search

What about that:
https://www.banggood.com/20g-Ultralight-...mds=search

looks like a 5" quad but with dimensions of a tiny whoop, more extreme

The tinyhawk RTF can be a great starting point..and I can speak from experience..I have literally charged the batteries (goggles also) plugged it in/ turned it on … armed and it flew ..NO LIE, I didn’t touch the vtx / goggles channel, didn’t set up the modes / switches. It was literally “plug-n-play”…not to say ALL of Emax’s kits are this way…
Also, purchase the Tinyhawk II, it’s the newer version.. it has a better camera AND a 200mw vtx..

Because i'm not a roockie anymore of fpv, so i want to buy something that i could use also in the city with i can't fly with my 5 inch quand otherwise i'm in a violation of the airspace.

I would like something that can fly and not overly expensive.

oh i considered the first version because cheaper...but maybe i will give a look at the second

Yes, the new EASA drone rules and regulations even cover toy drones, so no FPV quad is exempt even if it is under 250g. Please don't get me started on another rant about that Big Grin

If an uncertified drone has a camera on it then you have to register it and follow a whole load of unnecessary regulations regardless of it's weight. The only reason that the DJI Mini is exempt is because it is a CE certified consumer drone which has limited speed. None of the FPV drones we fly including tiny whoops are certified which means they have no exemptions from registration and ne exemption from any of the new EASA regulations.

May I suggest the Tinyhawk freestyle II…it’s small, quite, 2s so flight time is good, maneuverable, and I can do “upgrades” as u go…motors are reasonable and the Evan Rush 2.5 motors are great.
Mine. I absolute love to rip with.. I think the only “original” component is the battery strap
Now, there are no prop guards..

Another vote for the Mobula7. I bought one a while back and am very happy with it. I am sure the Tinyhawk II whoop is just as good though. The best part about the smaller drones is you can crash them with little to know damage.

If I remember correctly, you bought analog goggles, so you can get away with just buying the drone and not a starter pack.

Look up Nick Burns on Youtube he does a bunch of tiny drone reviews.
Thanks,
ED

I will give a second vote for a Moblite7. I think it would be a great park flyer, as well as indoors. It flies well and is very light, almost silent, and gets great flight time. I have flown mine into myself quite a few times and you barely even feel it. It also seems to hold up very when crashing. Amother upside, it uses 1S batteries which will cost less for a hand full of them.

I was gifted a mob 6 in a open prop frame.. and I love this little ripper!! I just have a har time recommending happy model due to the “failure rate”..

To be fair, quite a few of the tiny whoops seem to have a record of failing due to the voltage regulators used on their AIO FC's, so it's not just down to specific manufacturers - EMAX, Eachine, Happymodel, BetaFPV all have some history of fried FCs on their tiny whoops. You just have to expect that at some point you may end up with a failed board if you keep crashing them.

Kabab is true saying that but even he struggled for a few years to develop his branded 1S FC. No doubt his version flies very well but it was several batches before he managed to get something reliable and now he can’t even keep it in stock.

that bad availability of kababs board is sad Undecided

on tiny whoops with small rotor diameter weight is first priority for me, kababs board will be perfect for the 3inch babytoth but it is a bit to heavy for whoops. the moblite board with 200mw onboard vtx and inboard spi is my favority because of weight.

I agree on the weight of the 3” Babytooth as I flew it back to back with my Mobula 6 today.

I think the weight of the Mobula 6 (if not windy) makes it very agile and tight in corners.

The Babytooth has a floaty feel to it but can freestyle better due the added weight. It’s impossible to get the standard build below 50g with the individual components.

Angry Don has been pushing for a Diamond FC v2 with the changes he wants to make the builds very light.

I fly the Flysky spi on my Mobula 6 and I have never had a failsafe within the range of my video.

Hi Rosssiiii,

Here is my take on it...

Small ( 2 inch or less ) tiny whoops are great for indoors. You can fly them around the house and have a lot of fun.

Now, there seem to be a lot of new open prop offerings in the 40mm to 2 inch range..1S or 2S;
like the Flywoo in your post. So...one of these might be a good choice.

If you don't need to have "whoops" or prop guards, then you might consider the GEPRC Phantom, the EMAX TinyHawk
Freestyle II, the Crux3, or something similar. If the quad is a 2.5 or 3 inch, you can run the new turbine style props
{5 blade or 6 blade} such as these HQProp T63mm X 6 Hexa-blade props. This prop will fit a 2.5 inch quad (or a 3 inch).
These turbine style props are "quiet" when compared to the standard bi-blade and tri-blade props.

Although I have not specifically performed testing, a quad running these new turbine style props might actually be
quieter than a small whoop...less likely to be heard or noticed.

I have both an EMAX TinyHawk Freestyle and GEPRC Phantom (I have bought 2 of these and build a clone).
These are both 2.5 inch open prop quads that I purchased with the FrSky receiver (BNF). Since I don't consider
the 2.5 inch to be a long range quad, the XM+ receivers work well for me. Both are fun to fly and they
perform pretty much the same.

I prefer the GEPRC Phantom because it has standard 4 bolt motors, a non-integrated FrSky XM+ receiver,
and the frame will accept standard 16x16 stacks (or AIO) or the 26x26 whoop AIO FCs. For me, these features
make the quad much more repairable and upgradable. The Phantom frame is remarkably versatile and can be
used for a variety of configurations. {NOTE: I have several builds based on this frame}

Although I like flying the EMAX TinyHawk Freestyle, the FC board is a propriety {non-standard} mounting format
and it has the receiver built into the board...and... has 3 bolt motor mounting pattern which I really do not prefer.
{the 3 bolt motor mounting pattern is used on the smaller motors meant for whoops}. For me, the FC board can
easily be replaced with a standard FC using a mount plate...no big deal. On the other hand, the motors being a
3 bolt pattern presents quite a different issue since all of my motors have the 4 bolt pattern. Yeah, I could use a
small mount plate or even full arm "overlays"; both are quite workable, but just adds another layer of complexity.

Now, I am not going to buy motors with a 3 bolt mounting pattern since I would only be able to use them on the
EMAX TinyHawk frame. Even my 2 inch whoops have 4 bolt motor mounting. {yeah, I already have plenty of
tiny whoops that I can fly inside the house. Plus I have plenty of parts for repairs}.
