Setting up a Profile for Indoor Fllying
#1
One of my favorite drones is the hdzero mobula 7 on 3s. It's great awesome power to size and I love ripping it in semi-enclosed areas like bandos. It has A LOT of punch and when I whoop around my house it's just too much for me to pull off anything fun. I can cruise the house and zip around, but as soon as I try to apply a small throttle punch to do a roll or powerloop, I rocket into the ceiling. I want to set up a profile on a mode switch so that I can have an 'Indoor' setting. How do I do this?
I'm thinking I'll throttle limit to 75%. Would you recommend adjusting any other settings for indoor flying? Maybe I should add .1 or .2 expo to everything to gain some more 'room to move'
As always, a thousand thank-yous.

you can try lower rates for indoor/lower throttle use. it might feel more natural on lower speed than the same rates - you need to try :-)
i fly about 400-550deg per second on whoops, as tihhter as lower rates

personal i do a small throttle expo for whoops only: 0.1
and the throttlemid to zero.
give it a try

Try flying it on 2S which will automatically tone everything down.
Just moving from a 3S to 2S battery will bring things down about
about 25-30 percent and doesn't require changing any settings.
It is a quick and easy test.

I have several craft that I run on 3S, but switch down to 2S for
flying at a slower pace. Maybe you like it, maybe you don't, but
it is a quick way to adjust performance.

Thanks all. Haven't watched the video yet, but I think that's exactly what I need.
Throttle expo will be necessary for sure.
ifly4, I have tried this one on 2s and it is much more manageable, in fact a bit too manageable. It has trouble catching itself from powerloops and falls. On 3s it's like it can brake on a dime, so I would love the best of both of those worlds as the winter months close in on us.
Will watch that video and do some fiddling tonight.
Thanks again!

Yes, going down to 2S is the right move IMO    Thumbs Up , just like I often take 2S Whoops down to 1S for the tight confines of my house, but always use 2S in garden and Sports Hall. No changes to settings.

A point though, weight is really significant, and the 3S capable Mob7 is by its inherent bulk a world away from the Moblite7 in indoor ability, basically too much inertia.

I have made a couple of for me perfect indoor quads, by taking a Mob6 hardware and putting it into a BetaFPV Meteor 75 frame. Again, no changes to settings.

The increased wheelbase makes it run "on rails", and minimally tones down the nervousness. Yes, I tried all ways to make the 65 with its 65 frame perform the same, and it just wouldn't.

I have an only slightly above average sized 1935 built UK 3 bed house, and that 65/75 hardware combination allows full on aero at will pretty much anywhere in it, or at least does now I have got over the challenge of the tight 180 of the stairs top into a forward flip down through what in effect is a small square tunnel .............   Dodgy

Sometimes I still run 1S in the sports hall and can easily keep up with the 2S brigade on speed and beat them on the time loss caused by them drifitng or hitting gates.

Tortoise and Hare, but the Tortoise has super powers!   Power is NOT everything indoors.............  Big Grin

whoops are pretty sensitive about tune, 2s would gain benefits by pid tuning

My plan is to throttle limit to 85% and throttle expo .1 on a 2nd profile. Hoping I can set my OSD to display something like 'INDOORS' when I'm on that setting so I can be certain I am on the right profile.

I do agree that the weight is overall a disadvantage, but it handles quite nicely for it. The biggest drawback is it's about 75% more likely to break something or itself compared to my 1s whoops.
I actually added to the weight with a vifly mini beeper and carbon plate from Mr. Express, still flies marvelously
As for 2s, it's fun for cruising around or exploring a space, but it just doesn't have the thrust to weight for the agility I want when I'm really doing dumb shit.

Unfortunately we've had workers in our house from dawn to dusk for a while, so I haven't had a good opportunity to fly an overly-heavy whoop around on 3s power.
