I took some advice and recently ditched my broken cc3d flight controller for a spracer f3 board and am now running cleanflight. It looks to be better then ground control station. However I am having problems on takeoff. Motor 4 (front left) won't spin up unless I hit the throttle hard on take off. If I just gradually increase the throttle the other three motors spin up and cause it to flip. If I hit it hard it jumps into the air and everything is good but I have to try and correct for the angle it takes off. All the motors spin up when I calibrate the esc in cleanflight. All the motors were working fine with the cc3d so I'm somewhat perplexed. I've looked online and can't seem to find the solution I'm looking for. After I get the quad in The air it flys fine. I am really liking the new software I just would really like to know how to fix the motor issue. Anyone have any ideas? Is there and adjustment I can to to just that motor? • Posts: 1,070 Threads: 70 Likes Received: 742 in 378 posts Likes Given: 577 Joined: Jan 2016 Reputation: 44 Check min throttle values in blheli. It sometimes happens that they are different and can be too low on that one esc. You can also set min throttle in betaflight a bit higher. If that doesnt help. Try to switch this escandmotor to another arm. Or only the esc in question. Is that part of clean flight or a different application I need to find and download. Do I need special hardware to interface with the esc and blheli? Sorry if these are lame questions. • Posts: 947 Threads: 66 Likes Received: 350 in 248 posts Likes Given: 164 Joined: Apr 2016 Reputation: 34 • Posts: 146 Threads: 20 Likes Received: 21 in 14 posts Likes Given: 86 Joined: May 2016 Reputation: 0 (05-Sep-2016, 10:45 AM)oyvinla Wrote: What escs are you using? 12amp esc with blheli firmware. BlHeli Suite is a different application, but we need to know what ESC's you are using to tell you more. • Posts: 190 Threads: 26 Likes Received: 21 in 15 posts Likes Given: 7 Joined: Feb 2016 Reputation: 6 Are you using the Emax 12amp ESCs? I had a similar problem with them. • Posts: 122 Threads: 28 Likes Received: 75 in 34 posts Likes Given: 30 Joined: Aug 2016 Reputation: 2 You do need to download blheli suite and then connect to the escs . Make sure props are off. Make sure props are off . Make sure props are off. Ok you'll need to have them powered up by your lipo . Then you need to read setup. It will tell you if any are out of sync . Also, check and make sure each esc is of the same firmware version, you may have 3 from one batch and 1 from another with different versions on. Always a good idea to flash the latest firmware to all your esc's at the same time. Oh, and make sure props are OFF the quad. Also if they are EMAX 12A, as lolFPV suggested, they just have trouble with syncing at startup, especially on 3s, setting higher min_throttle may help here. Thanks for all the tips and help everyone. Sigh... Yes they are emax 12 amp with blheli firmware. Probably not very good esc's. This is my first "real" quad. Sounds like I should try and adjust the min throttle in clean flight then. I do recall when I was using the cc3d and I was doing the motor esc calibration that this particular motor had to have a higher min-throttle number then the other three. Is that something that's easy to fix in cleanflight?
I haven't reversed any motors in software. Just two have the wires swapped to spin inverted Oh. And yes I am using 3s lipo. • Posts: 1,070 Threads: 70 Likes Received: 742 in 378 posts Likes Given: 577 Joined: Jan 2016 Reputation: 44 Cleanflight misses this simple min throttle configuration for every single motor that Open Pilot has. Try calibrating a few times, if that doesn't change, raise min_throttle setting in small increments until all motors start together. I remember that what fixed it was.... placing lipo under the quad - what I mean is that after applying only a bit of throttle, my stubborn esc was able to sync with motor as quad had to balance itself on the pack. Of course you can put there whatever you have on hand ie. a piece of foam, that doesn't have to be your lipo. Do you mean put the lipo or object under the quad during calibration or permanatly so it has to ballance every time it takes off? Thanks very much for your help. I think I'll try to adjust the min-throttle in small amounts like you suggested. I'd rather not fly with the lipo on the bottom. I'd assume it would get smashed and bashed up as I usually land kind of hard Although I could just aim to land in the trees and get a tree hugger badge as well. • Posts: 1,070 Threads: 70 Likes Received: 742 in 378 posts Likes Given: 577 Joined: Jan 2016 Reputation: 44 No, calibrate normally. Just place something under the quad before every start so it doesnt lay flat on the ground. You can try just zipping a bit of foam, it should be easiest • Posts: 146 Threads: 20 Likes Received: 21 in 14 posts Likes Given: 86 Joined: May 2016 Reputation: 0 (05-Sep-2016, 07:31 PM)Konrad Stepanajtys Wrote: No, calibrate normally. Perhaps to lessen the weight of the quad I could make a custom launching platform with a raised area to ballence the quad on for take off. Or just set it on one of the other lipos that I have. I really appreciate the help Konrad. • |
