No details or testing yet, I'll update if I find anything. https://www.facebook.com/NameLess-RC-878366549179711/ Posts: 5,323 Threads: 674 Likes Received: 3,160 in 1,747 posts Likes Given: 2,032 Joined: Jan 2016 Reputation: 139 perfect for the Nano Long Range build • Posts: 1,506 Threads: 49 Likes Received: 714 in 525 posts Likes Given: 478 Joined: Oct 2020 Reputation: 93 Hopefully they used a decent GPS receiver! Could probably save even more weight by removing the connector and just soldering directly to the PCB. Until we have more details, I'm going to keep working on my micro GPS here: https://intofpv.com/t-2g-gps-mod-ultra-lightweight-gps • Posts: 6,112 Threads: 172 Likes Received: 2,286 in 1,833 posts Likes Given: 4,736 Joined: Feb 2019 Reputation: 100 i have bad experiences with the fullspeedrc/namelessrc nano400 vtx, its the lightest vtx on the market but not usable at all in comparison, 1.1g unify nano pro to an 0.7g nameless nano400. can this gps be usable at this weight, for a full rescue? will be intressting :-) • Posts: 4,550 Threads: 38 Likes Received: 1,245 in 1,064 posts Likes Given: 430 Joined: Aug 2020 Reputation: 118 29-Mar-2021, 10:34 PM (This post was last modified: 29-Mar-2021, 10:46 PM by kafie1980.) I don’t see a battery onboard and I am assuming it will cold start every time which will take fairly long to get a lock. Agree that they should get rid of the connector and just provide solder pads. • Posts: 277 Threads: 54 Likes Received: 54 in 48 posts Likes Given: 10 Joined: Mar 2020 Reputation: 3 Newb comment, again, but bear with me lol I was under the impression, and it seems logical to me, that the smaller the gps unit, the less accurate it is? A larger unit has a larger antenna. Same as any component I would think. A 30x30 stack -should- be more robust than a 16x16. The Rush Solo is huge, but hella powerful. Why don't they put stubby antennas on Long Range quads? Why not only use 2 bolts for your motors, it's lighter, right? Those pesky battery straps, heck, I'll just velcro it on and save 7 grams. How about a whoop board in an X Class? Size and weight are one thing, but at what trade-off? Ok, didn't mean to interrupt, back to lurking • Posts: 5,879 Threads: 47 Likes Received: 2,779 in 2,241 posts Likes Given: 7,647 Joined: Jul 2019 Reputation: 97 31-Mar-2021, 03:25 AM (This post was last modified: 31-Mar-2021, 03:26 AM by iFly4rotors.) I am interested in that tiny GPS. It doesn't have to be the best, just has to work good enough to get me back home. Remember when cell phones came in a bag and weighed several pounds? Now look what we have. Yeah, I only use 2 bolts on motors. Also, I use regular Velcro straps for my batteries. • Posts: 4,550 Threads: 38 Likes Received: 1,245 in 1,064 posts Likes Given: 430 Joined: Aug 2020 Reputation: 118 31-Mar-2021, 03:55 AM (This post was last modified: 31-Mar-2021, 03:55 AM by kafie1980.) Yes, I am willing got give technological improvements the benefit of the doubt. Hoping things get smaller than they are currently. The ceramic antenna on these GPS units is what makes them heavy. Less than 2 grams is ideal for toothpicks and nano long range. For me the GPS has to be good enough to raise the quad above some altitude (to avoid signal obstruction by obstacles) and point it in the right direction till I regain control and video links. • Posts: 277 Threads: 54 Likes Received: 54 in 48 posts Likes Given: 10 Joined: Mar 2020 Reputation: 3 (31-Mar-2021, 03:25 AM)iFly4rotors Wrote: Remember when cell phones came in a bag and weighed several pounds? Now look what we have. Yes, and those big bulky bagphones also had crazy power, and sounded just as good as a land line. They were also like $1200 to buy and $.25 a minute ? My flip phone from 10 years ago had waaay better reception than my current smart phone does, perhaps because it doesn't have all the extra fluff. Everything is a compromise, a whoop could fly for 9 days if it could lift a 4S Li-ion lol Back to lurking Posts: 1,506 Threads: 49 Likes Received: 714 in 525 posts Likes Given: 478 Joined: Oct 2020 Reputation: 93 • Posts: 4,550 Threads: 38 Likes Received: 1,245 in 1,064 posts Likes Given: 430 Joined: Aug 2020 Reputation: 118 22-Apr-2021, 08:44 AM (This post was last modified: 22-Apr-2021, 08:44 AM by kafie1980.) I wish they could get rid of the connector. Just solder pads would work. • Posts: 70 Threads: 1 Likes Received: 25 in 22 posts Likes Given: 2 Joined: Nov 2020 Reputation: 1 25-Apr-2021, 02:31 PM (This post was last modified: 25-Apr-2021, 02:31 PM by p-i-engineer.) i want to see it working before i buy.
