Yeah, I totally agree that Snow's solution is likely much better especially for durability. For me, the hot glue/shrink tubing method is very light weight and simple to execute and has proven extremely durable for my style of flying {easy cruising and endurance} and my build objectives, one of which is sub 250 grams. I rarely land right side up and occasionally have to ditch the flight from altitude. So, in some respects I have been surprised at how well my antennas have survived.
Anyway, it is just another option. {I like having options}.
