1 03-Apr-2017, 09:20 PM (This post was last modified: 03-Apr-2017, 09:39 PM by CaCondor.) I use betaflight with my quad. I have a tx switch to turn motor on and off. When I switch it on the props turn at idle speed. I don't want them to turn but I'd rather have it so when I flip the motor on switch nothing happens until I advance the throttle stick. have arm and air mode on the same switch.
Thanks for the help,
Willie B

30 03-Apr-2017, 10:12 PM (This post was last modified: 03-Apr-2017, 10:14 PM by fftunes.) I can't recommend that (having the props spinning is the best sign to show that the quad is armed and DANGEROUS), also accidentally stopping motors mid-air would be bad, but i'll still answer your question...
You'll have to use the motor_stop feature (config page top right). But airmode is overriding motor_stop, meaning when airmode is active, motors won't stop even at zero throttle.

34 I'm just curious, why would you like to have the motors not spinning when the quad is armed?

1 So the quad would just sit there and then when I push the throttle it would jump up.

31 Just recently there was a big discussion on this and I have to agree with the others... props spinning idol is the best way to go. If you think about it it'll also help you develop better habits such as not arming the quad until you've placed it wherever you're going to launch from and disarming before picking it up.

1 I guess it's best to have the props idling as you all say. I have 5 quads and 4 of them all idle up at switch on. But, for some reason my Nitro X doesn't spin up when armed. I examined the betaflight settings on all 5 quads and attempted to get this to happen on all of them with no luck. I set the low idle, mid and high all the same. All switch settings are the same. Perhaps the function I seek might be a malfunction in one of the Nitro X's boards. I sure do like it though.

30 Could be the escs maybe, in case you did not calibrate them?
