Matek F411 Wing Flight Controller
#1
Hi folks, I have just received a new FC for my S800, a Matek F411 Wing which is specifically designed to fit the needs of a wing user.

I got it from Banggood

Note: almost ANY FC can be used on a wing, this one is just very convenient to use with INAV.

It is described with details on the Matek website, the main features are:
- F4 processor (tiny F411)
- MPU6000 gyro (the good one)
- barometer
- 2 UARTS + softserial TX1 'preconfigured' and pinned out (ST1 pin) + separate inverted RX1 pad for SBUS
- PPM (with softserial disabled)
- OSD
- vertical USB socket
- I2C pins
- OLED screen pins

If you need more features (6 UARTS, 7 servos, more capable BECs etc.), this board also has a bigger brother - the F405 Wing FC

I measured dimentions 41 x 27 x 13mm, assembled as above.

Comes with INAV preinstalled, version 1.9.1 (initial dump)

Power:

- built in PDB with conveniently laid out batt and 2 ESC pads
- 78A current sensor (scale 423)
- 5V for gear (2A)
- selectable 5V/6V for servos (3A)
- 3.3V out (200mA)

It has no blackbox chip or SD card slot, can use external logger if really needed.

So far I've only flashed newest INAV on it and used the S800 preset. On the wing side, I only cleaned up the mess, I'll start a new thread in wings subforum when I have more time Smile

Cheers  High Five

Yes you did! This is the wing FC that I feel would do what I need. For now, need to learn the basics. Once I know I can actually fly the wing, then it is time to start upgrading the control suite! Smile

Interested to see how everyone is mounting this. Just 2-sided tape on the bottom of the pdb?
Dude, where's my quad?

2-sided tape on the bottom PCB, that piece does not have any other function than to serve as a mounting solution. The PDB itself has components underneath so it would be hard.
(but you probably meant that Smile )

Not sure if starting a new thread makes sense, so here we go...

The Matek FC was supposed to replace the mess I had inside the bay:

Stuff I pulled out (ESC to change to a bigger one)

New FC installation looks 'a bit' neater:

ESC changed to a bigger one with a preinstalled cap... I have to add one anyway, this one is probably not low ESR.

After you folks discussed the elevons change - one of mine was all taped up, while the second one was still stiff as new - I cut it off, sanded and taped it back later:

I hate Frsky...

And I will be testing this 'long range' AVAN prop:
