how do I wire a SP racing Evo, Spektrum ar7700, Kiss 24a racing esc to a MinimOSD
#1
Question
HuhHey guys I am new the quad scene. I am building an ImpulseRc Alien 6 in. This is my second quad that I am building, first one was a BlackOut Mini H with no osd. I am trying to add a osd to the Alien and I am really not sure how to wire up the SP racing f3 Evo and the micro MinimOsd to get the Rssi, when using a Spektrum ar7700 receiver. I know it is not necessary but I want to learn how to wire it. I am using the following:

Alien 6 in frame
4x  Kiss 24a escs
4x Emax rs2205
DemonRc PDB
Hs1177 cam
SP racing f3 Evo
Ar7700 receiver
Immersion 600mw Tx
Micro MinimOsd

What I am thinking is:
  1. Jumping the PWN rssi (5v) pad on the back of the SP EVO.
  2. [Ar7700] to the [SP EVO] via uart2 PPM connections.
  3. [SP EVO] TX pin to the [MinimOsd] RX pin.
  4. [SP EVO] RX pin to the [MinimOsd] TX pin
  5. [SP EVO] channel 8, 5v and ground pins to the [MinimOsd] 5v and ground pins
**This is the part where I need some assistance**
  1. [SP EVO] RSSI pin to the [MinimOsd] RSSI pin
  2. [SP EVO] CRNT pin to the [MinimOsd] CURR pin

Is that all that all that I need to do?

For LIPO voltage monitoring should I hook up the wire leads from the LIPO straight to the MinimOsd BAT1 and GND pins or use the SP EVO 2-6s battery pins. If I use the SP EVO voltage pins do I need to wire something else?

I know that Kiss 24a racing escs have the telemetry wire on them do I wire that to the SP EVO T2/TLM pin that I boxed in pink? Does it get wired to the ar7700 receiver?

I might be over thinking it so any help would be nice since it is difficult to find a thread with this specific set up and question. I have included a wiring diagram to help visualize it.

The current pads on both the FC and Minimosd are inputs. You will need a current sensor to get current reading, or you can use the built-in virtual current sensor in the FC or the OSD. All data from the FC is sent throught the serial connection (RX/TX). I don't use RSSI, but I guess it is the same with those pads as I mentioned with the current pads.

I would connect my battery for voltage reading to the Flight controller set up mwosd to read the voltage from the FC through the serial connection

isn't RSSI a signal-strenght signal that comes from the receiver?

Yes Oyvinla is right, actually both RSSI and CRNT on both MinimOSD and EVO FC are inputs, you shouldn't connect them together.
Both current sensor data and RSSI can then sent from FC to OSD via the TX/RX serial link.

For RSSI, you can only get it from receiver, or if your radio system supports Telemetry you might be able to get it via a spare radio channel (for example in Frsky Taranis SBUS or PPM)
For Current, you need an external current sensor. or use built-in virtual current sensor like Oyvinla said. Here is a tutorial: http://intofpv.com/t-virtual-current-sen...betaflight

I have been googling the wrong things for my spektrum rssi question. I found this link: http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2717535
Not sure if this is accurate but it relates to my question.
