Noob Question..... "VTX/ESC" Boards....
#1
Exclamation
As some peps might be aware, I've had one hell of a time configuring my F7V3 - Stack...

All that Good stuff aside..

I was actually wondering if, Me, Myself and what not, are able to use an older Off-Brand ESC in place of my 50A SpeedyBee ESC????
And if that's the case, Would the wiring & the connectors fit?

I have a HGLRC ZEUS 50A ESC that was left over from a previous build....

Can I Use That????

-Thx

Connectors will match, but you have to rearrange the wires.

Don't just plug them in hoping it will work. Most likely it will destroy the ESC. FC or both.

I always mix and match ESC/FCs. I don't think I ever bought a proper stack.

I have encountered FCs with no connector, but where there is a connector it is usually the JST-SH 1.0mm 8pin. So all the plugs fit, but every single one had a different pinout. For example I had a HGLRC Zeus 48A ESC in a build with a Lumienier Lux H7 HD FC - I had to rearrange the plug the first time. Then when I swapped to a Velox ESC I had to rearrange the plug again.

For me it is easy to rearrange the plug. I have a soldering microscope and some tiny tweezers. There is a tiny plastic tab you lift (not too far or it will break) and the pins come out of the plug. Then you can put them back in a different arrangement. If you have a good pair of eyes you might be able to do it with no microscope. I saw people do it with no magnification.

Then there is also the thing about the length of the ESC-FC cable. These included with HGLRC Zeus ESC I got was very short. Rearranging the wires makes it even shorter (if you have to swap a cable from one side to the other). So I'd definitely dry fit the stack first, make sure the USB points in the direction you want and that the ESC cable still reaches etc.

I have one build I have to remove two and loosen further two screws to get to the usb plug and it is very invonvenient.

You can use any ESC with any FC.

It looks like the SpeedyBee 50A ESC and the HGLRC ZEUS 50A ESC makes use of the same 8-pin plugs/sockets, but they have the GND and VBAT wires reversed, so you would need to re-pin the plug on the ESC end of the ESC-to-FC harness to swap over the red and black wires before you plug them in otherwise you will risk frying your FC with reverse polarity voltage.

That's unfortunate. I guess you won't be using that VTX then, unless there is still enough of the socket connection traces left on the board that you can solder wires directly to.

accidentally installed the firmware from speedybee 405 on mamba f405. it broke everything and now it is seems on windows as “unknown device” code 43. troubleshooting doesn’t work, solution to repair ??

Hold down the boot button, connect and reflash with the correct target.

That ESC has pads on the back, and so does the SB FC, so you can solder wires to both boards if you cannot resolder the plug.

Good Point.. I was so discouraged I just packed up shop for the night sand called it a day....

I did however make some progress with the F&7V3 ESC BLHeli32 program....
It should be on top somewhere. Im at a stuck moment in my next step, but Im digging while I wait till I get some feed back from you and a couple others,,,,

BTW, ALWAYS check the pinout of a Lumenier FC with a multimeter(I realise you're not using lumenier, but in case you or anyone does in future). I almost fried my FC by putting the pins wrong way around because whoever wrote the manual for the Lumenier F722 Mini decided to show the pinout of the plug on the bottom of the FC as seen from the top. Aka X-ray vision through the pcb, but they still showed the bottom side components.
Instead of: if you're showing it from the top - show top components, if you show it from the bottom - show bott components, as every other FC under the sun does.

Imagine that. As a result I had my vbat and GND going to motor 3 and motor 4 on the fc.

The fact I always use a current limited PSU set to the lowest possible voltage when first testing saved the day

Look at the manual https://getfpv-media.s3.amazonaws.com/wy...7-1112.pdf and let me know who else would think they show the 4in1 plug as looking from the bottom...
