1 Video files recorded onboard the Bassline VTX (Avatar mini 1s lite) seem to have date/time stamps from 1st jan 2000, and I've yet to find somewhere to set the time/date. Anyone know where it gets its time/date from, and where that can be set to the right time/date? The only place I've found any time/date settings is on my RC and they've been set correctly.

51 They added RTC calibration function in 36.42.4 so if you are on that or a newer firmware I believe it should be in your settings menu. My onboard files used to have the correct date stamp on them, but that was a long while ago. I think they all lost the correct date when moving to firmware 32.

1 When you say settings, where is this accessed from? Menu system in the goggles? Or somehow via the tiny USB interface on the VTX board? I think I updated to the latest firmware when I got the quad, which was just over a week ago, so I should be on something fairly recent. I'll check when I get a chance.

51 I would guess its settings tab from the goggles menu. There are no settings accessible on the VTX itself, just the flash memory as far as I know.

1 I checked the FW versions and it is 37.42.3 on VTX and goggles. I went thru all the menus in the goggles while linked to the vtx and didn't find anything about setting the time/date. I don't expect the vtx to have a clock as it doesn't have a permanent power source, so presumably the goggles store the time/date if anything does.

786 This is exactly the reason that Caddx get slated. This should be an option in the goggles menu. You shouldn't have to be putting a text file on an SD Card to change the frikkin date/time on the goggles or the VTX when the goggles have a perfectly good functional UI. Adding such functionality to the goggles UI firmware should be a trivial task. And having to get the procedure to do that from a user on Discord or Facebook is farcical. That procedure should be clearly documented in the user manual, which it currently isn't. It's a complete clown show by Caddx.

41 Surprised they can't connect to a phone or some other internet capable device, via bluetooth/wifi, to grab the time/date from an NTP server. For the cost of those goggles i'd kind of expect all singing and dancing.

1 20-Mar-2024, 12:22 PM (This post was last modified: 20-Mar-2024, 12:22 PM by Scro.) It does seem a bit onerous on the end user to make them hunt about on forums for an answer, and then have a clunky procedure for doing something basic like setting the system clock. It would not be hard to add this in to the menu system on the next firmware update. I appreciate that FPV drones typically attract a user group that is happy to tinker with the more technical aspects of drones, but that's not really an excuse for not making basic things easy to do.
I've got the Fatshark Recon HD goggles, but ultimately the firmware is Caddx developed. If they want to compete with DJI then they need to focus on making products that are a little more user friendly.

51 I feel setting it by a text file is acceptable, maybe you only need to do this once or twice. But definitely terrible that they don't bother to document this procedure. As this "feature" is coming only 1.5 years after its release, at least some details in the release notes would have made sense. Googling brought up nothing, had to dig deeper in their FB group to find the post.
Also the fact that the battery charging circuit was apparently inactive on the original Goggles for that same period of time, just shows how Beta everything is. But I love my Walksnail setups, its amazing for micros... and they are still one of the cheapest digital options (<$80 now on Ali sale for the 1S kit).
