Building first 210 drone ... Need help!
#1
Hello everyone, I am new to this board and I am in need of assistance.

I started building my very first drone back in 2017 and for whatever reasons I had to stop. Here I am now trying to pick up where I left off and I am stuck. I am in need of advice as to what I need to get to complete my setup.

I currently have the following;

Frame  =  Lisam LS-210
ESC  =  Racestar RS20Ax4
Motors  =  EMAX RS2205-S 2300KV
PDB  =  Matek Systems PDB-XT60
VTX  =  Eachine VTX03 Super Mini
FC    =  Betaflight Omnibus F4 Pro V3
Receiver  =  FrSKY XSR 2.4GHz 16CH Receiver
FPV Camera  =  Eachine 1000TVL 1/3 CCD
Props  =  DALPROP T5045C Cyclone 5 Inch 3 Blade
Transmitter  =  FrSKY ACCST Taranis Q X7

Welcome to the forum Smile

It looks like you have all of the basics you to complete the build. More modern electronics have become available in the 3 years since you got all that stuff but what you have will get you in the air just fine if you don't want to spend a load more money replacing parts.

I don't see a VTX antenna listed or goggles. Do you have those or not?

I definitely do not have goggles as yet, do you have any recommendations on googles?
VTX antenna? I have a Eachine VTX03 Super Mini, is that the antenna?

Yes of course, the Eachine VTX03 comes with a dipole antenna. I forgot to check that. You might be better off with a proper omni antenna on the quad but that should do you to start off with, and you can always upgrade later if think you need to. Some people swear that the dipole antennas are as good as omni's so maybe there is no major advantage in getting an omni just yet.

What is your budget for goggles?

you probably missed to write, but the power isnt on the list, batteries?

i would suggest another prop to try what fits your need, a gemfan 5046,6 would be a different one.

i guess your parts should fly nice, the cam would probably be something to mention about an upgrade, 20-40 bucks should give an increasement in pleasure.

Well back then I was thinking about Eachine Goggles Two. So I guess something in that price range, say $200 max.

No, I did not miss the power. I have no idea what batteries and charger I will get as yet. Do you by chance have any recommendations?

What cam upgrade did you have in mind for 20-40 bucks?

runcam racer, foxeer pradator, caddx ratel.. watch some yt comparisons to get impressions about the picture you will get.
i dont know your frame exactly, what diameter is the cammount of your frame?

i would reccomand tattu, gnb, cnhl, atech lipos; probably a 1500mah +-95c 4s tattu

as a charger you need one time, i would suggest an isdt charger.
as a temp inexpensive solution there is „ b6 max charger“ i guess for about 20

If you are fine with box goggles then the best ones currently in that class are the Eachine EV800D goggles which are ~$100...

Doing some research, I would prefer goggles with a built-in DVR. Definitely, does not have to be box goggles. I never flew fpv before so I do not have a preference for box goggles.

Unfortunately you won't get any slim goggles worth using for $200. You need to spend at least $300 or more for a decent pair of those. The Eachine EV200D I linked to has built in DVR and supposedly has some of the best diversity receivers you can get. Just ask Krohsis on here who swears by the EV800D and even uses them for long range flying, so they must be good Smile

Other box style goggles to look at are the FatShark Recon V3 (~$100) and the FatShark Scout (~$230). The Recon's don't have diversity but the Scout's do.

Seems like the goggles is the toughest deciding factor in my build so far... lol
Let's say I remove the $200 cap. Which goggles would you recommend (not box goggles) that will work for this build and a DJI Mavic Air 2? I am considering getting a Mavic Air 2 in the future.

No analogue goggles will work with a Mavic 2. Well not directly. You would need a phone/tablet that has a compatible HDMI output that you can wire to the goggles with an HDMI cable. Not all phones/tablets supply a compatible HDMI output signal and not all goggles accept the same type of HDMI input signal. It will be pot luck if it works. I don't have a compatible list I'm afraid.

As for goggles, the following slim style goggles are probably worth a look. The more expensive they are, the better they are. Keep in mind the field of view because the slim goggles can be vastly different (a side-by-side comparison tool HERE). Slim goggles have 2 small screens while box goggles have one large screen. The 2 small screens in slim goggles come in either 4:3 or 16:9 format (not both) so you need to choose goggles to match your camera format. The large screen in box goggles generally come in a 16:9 format.

Although not slim, you have the option to getting The DJI FPV goggles and adding an analog receiver. Will still not work with Mavic directly and you need to mod to add analog video. But you will also open yourself up to HD digital video.

Thanks. I am thinking the FatShark HDO2 is the way to go, even though it is more than double my goggles budget.
Do you by chance have any recommendations on GPS?

Thanks. I am leaning towards the HDO2
