I have tried using RC 5 and RC 7 to send signal to the LEDs but I have had no luck. Occasionally it will light up, but it will not be the color I specified, or react to something like throttle. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Hi Ryan, it appears that Xracer F3 doesn't support RGB LED nor VBAT out of the box... You might be able to work around with hacks... hope they can fix that in next version... Update (22/03/2016): V2 is out! http://intofpv.com/t-xracer-f303-fc-v2-new-version • Posts: 4 Threads: 1 Likes Received: 0 in 0 posts Likes Given: 0 Joined: Jan 2016 Reputation: 0 (29-Jan-2016, 06:57 PM)Oscar Wrote: Hi Ryan, it appears that Xracer F3 doesn't support RGB LED nor VBAT out of the box... The spracing f303 doesn't have any connection to that pin. i will try to solder directly to that pin on the f3 chip (like the vbat mod) and report back the results • Posts: 102 Threads: 13 Likes Received: 10 in 8 posts Likes Given: 9 Joined: Mar 2016 Reputation: 3 Any news about a led hack/mod? I don't think you should get your hopes up with this one hehe probably won't happen! soldering to the processor is too risky really! • Posts: 102 Threads: 13 Likes Received: 10 in 8 posts Likes Given: 9 Joined: Mar 2016 Reputation: 3 Thanks for your help Oscar. Soldering isn't a problem I just need to know the right pin of the processor and i'm ready to go.. Hi, Just did the VBAT and LED_STRIP mods on one X-racer F303. Works fine, not sure the mod is flight worthy even though I secured most of the add-ons with some small CA-drops... Liquid tape all over it would probably help. I also added a 5V regulator and soldered a beeper directly to the Fc. Mounting holes are not at the std 30.5mm spacing, had to adjust them slightly, now they are bit oval. Had to order a Spektrum satellite connector separately and solder in. Quite a lot things missing in the basic design and a lot of work to get it where I want it. Thanks for sharing your knowledge. You pretty much get rid of all the annoying things of this FC. I probably won't recommend buying this FC with all its design flaws. Lets wait and see if there is a V2 coming. If they fix at least some of the flaws, it would be close to perfect. The Led strip feature would really benefit with some more work. WS2812 strips are not fully compatible with the 3.3V logic levels of the STM32 outputs. There should be a 5V TTL driver in between. This not specific to X-racer, it is a general problem. It is covered in the cleanflight docs and the usual fix is to lower the strip supply voltage with a diode in series. Ugly, but it works. /A • Posts: 102 Threads: 13 Likes Received: 10 in 8 posts Likes Given: 9 Joined: Mar 2016 Reputation: 3 Those WS2812 strips are working with 4-7V right? So a diode in series to 5V means 4,3V for the LEDs, so logic levels are more compatible? Yepp, correct. /A • Posts: 8 Threads: 2 Likes Received: 0 in 0 posts Likes Given: 0 Joined: Feb 2016 Reputation: 0 Nice work, AndWho! Mad solder skills, especially with large wire like that. I cheat and use pieces of pin connectors, LED legs, solid wire, kanthal... shrink wrap, liquid tape, glue. I have one I just put on a 250 and have only run a couple batts around the house. No tuning yet but I really liked the feel of it. Acro and Horizon worked well. I certainly agree about V 2.x Lets fix some bugs and do it again. I don't expect a full 10 dof board, but I do want awsome race FC that will run a few accessories if I choose. Gotta have Vbatt, Buzzer(that the freakin' pads don't rip right off of) LED, OSD, Telem. It's got a few flaws, but I think it has great potential. Keep up the great work! I would like to know more about the mods you did... • Posts: 6 Threads: 0 Likes Received: 0 in 0 posts Likes Given: 0 Joined: Mar 2016 Reputation: 1 (08-Mar-2016, 02:09 AM)CrashWorks Wrote: .... Other than than the LED-strips are hungry, a small linear voltage regulator might be overloaded and shutdown after a while. You might need separate power supply for the LED-strip. But this is general for all LED-strip use, nothing particular for my mods. /A • Posts: 8 Threads: 2 Likes Received: 0 in 0 posts Likes Given: 0 Joined: Feb 2016 Reputation: 0 (08-Mar-2016, 12:07 PM)AndWho Wrote: Thnx. OK for 3s and/or 4s input? The LEDs are another issue. Am i correct in assuming that pin29(PA8) on the processor puts out data at 3.3v and the LED strip (WS2812) works on a data input of around 5v, kinda like sonar? In that case, a couple of diodes and a 10k resistor should couple data and both get the voltage they like while sharing the same 5v power supply... Thanks for your help, I love to build... but this damn programming thing... Im working on feasability study for the Xracer project, looking at mods, size and weight... I hope to come up with a "bulletproof" FC Blue Skies, Brother -kenny • |
