VTX seems to broadcast on only 1 channel
#1
VTX is a Lumenier TX5G 200mw. No matter what channel I set it to, I can only get a decent pic in my goggles (skyzone 02C) on 5510Mhz. Even then it breaks up at about 50 yards. According to the freq charts I have seen, this frequency is in the O band which is not a legal band. The transmitter also isn't listed as broadcasting to this channel. I'm 99% sure its not my goggles as my other quad (mobula 7) seems ok.

I tied multiple antennas, ensured no ground issues, solder connections solid, etc. no smart audio on this vtx.

I want to be sure I'm not missing something before I rip this thing apart.

Thanks

Is the leds indicator reflect that you are changing the channel and band?

Yes. Every indication is that it is changing channel and band. I inspected the board but found no indication of burns, corrosion, etc.

I didn't mention that it did work at one point a few months ago. I drove it into the ground a fairly good clip but didn't find any obvious damage. The only thing odd was the vtx antenna was very loose after the impact. Would the 5-10 minutes it took me to locate the quad and disconnect the battery be enough to cook the vtx...assuming the antenna was loose enough to break connection.

I'm leaning toward a smoked transmitter considering it worked but now it doesn't after a hard hit. I suppose stranger things have happened.

Might be a broken VTX. I have had stuff without a sign of damage, but things just don't work. Unless an other member have any insight, you might look into replacing the VTX.

I think I'll do that. I have an extra one around somewhere. I just didn't want to randomly replace it without knowing what's what but my gut tells me it's dead.

thanks for the input. I'll hang onto it for a while n case someone else chimes in, as you suggested.

My troubleshooting/airtime ratio has been pretty severe while starting out.  I know it'll get better but damn. Happy I'm a bit older and wasn't raised in the world of instant gratification...although it is enjoyed. Thinking

The VTX was bad. Installed new one and everything is as it should be.
