UJ's Ronin MK1 Build Log

Batteries have arrived as well Smile

I have never done the black box tune thing so will more than likely have questions about that eventually. Although I probably wont as I normally I just set it up and fly lol. I don't have a preferred setup across my whole fleet other than switches. I just fly the quad how it flies. I do the feel motor thing initially and always my motors are not even the tiniest bit hot when I land. Meh I should do this but just lazy I guess.

Hi UJ,

Man, that one battery is BIG; are you planning to use it to power the quad??

I am of similar mindset in that I always like do initial flying with everything as it comes; factory default tune. So far, everything has worked fine for me so I haven't yet felt the need to tinker with tune. If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

If it works, I fly it. I guess it would be nice to have "pretty", but it doesn't seem to effect the behavior so it just doesn't concern me that much. I would rather have some extra length on the wires and maybe connectors to facilitate adjustments, repairs, and modifications over something that is super clean. On the other hand, I applaud those that do have nice, clean, builds.

Actually I was using 850mAh 4S Tattu (non-HV) lipos. The 650 should still get you flight time and much reduced weight. I am curious how the 450 works out. Would be super light but I'm worried about low voltage warnings on the first power loop.

that might be pretty unfriendly at fullthrottle to the 450mah 4s xD
i like the choices, that might go snappy and nimble :-)

Yeah we shall see. CNHL ran out of 850mah batteries and unless I was willing to pay double for Tattu's etc I will wait. I just cant do it when I can get CNHL batteries for half to a quarter the price of anything else.

Not big into loops etc. I mainly am just into racing through trees and shooting gaps so hopefully even with the 450mah battery will get over 4 minutes.

Was really windy plus I was very busy today so didn't get the maiden flight done but I have it all setup ready to go.

Final weight is 122.86grams which is not far off my target. Good enough anyway Smile

I do have a lot of 1500mah batteries so will definitely be having at least 1 flight to see what happens. I'd be impressed if it even took off as they are pretty heavy lol

good weight!
xD as small as possible and as big as possible xD
i believe it will fly at a 1500mah 4s too, but the battery weight is more than the quad, it wont be nimble xD i believe bottom mounted for the huge battery might probably work better.
dont destroy frame by the huge battery ;-)

That is super light lol. I guess i always have some form of hd cam on all my builds regardless how small or big so thats always a good 20g or so extra. I think youll actually be all good on 4s. Now im super curioua how that flies on 4s.

Hi Bat,

The JHEMCU and HIFIONRC 26x26 whoop boards that I use are rated up to 6S. If I wanted, I could used 6S, but I won't. I will likely stay with 3S; maybe double up...how about 2 x 3S 1100 mAh batteries. I haven't tried it yet, it is on my list of things to do.

i know there are a lot 6s capable options.
sure 6s wont make sense for cruising.
urbanjungles motor 2750kv would match 6s voltage. a buddy flys 2650kv 1505motors on 4inch and 6s.

I bought the motors as I was going to run on 6s but then I found the AIO lying around so just threw that on. Depending on how things go it may get the AIO upgraded.

Then again I have no issues with lower KV motors as most of the time you fly around mid throttle anyway. Lower kv just means I use a bit more throttle Smile

Again really windy here today but I went meh and went for a fly anyway. First impression is fully sick. Very responsive.

I went the 450mah pack first. Hard to tell how long I will get out of a 450 pack as the camera angle was way too low but I got 7 minutes out of it which is pretty good. I figure 3-4 minutes giving it a bit of stick which is very acceptable.

The second flight which is also the video attached was cut short as the negative lead snapped off. Freaked me totally out as I was not paying attention to where I was so had to go over the video feed to find it lol. I had the camera angled a bit further up at 45 degrees so was able to go a bit faster. Still needs to go up a lot more. Probably 60 degrees will be its happy place.

But first impressions is I love it Smile

Unedited, turn off sound.

thats lowweight efficiency :-)

i bet for 2min flytime on 60degree camangle rippin xD it might decrese the flighttime a lot but should be worse the nimble-speed :-)
