Ummagawd Remix 5" Build
#31
I keep forgetting to take pics or record DVR video! I've literally never recorded anything flying in my life! hah.

I have some more flight time on the Remix and it's doing great. I keep flying over wet grass which results in a pretty wet quad after a few crashes. I had a motor glitching out on my yesterday but after an hour or sitting/drying it seems to be working fine again. I should probably stop flying when its wet, but i can't help myself. Perhaps time for some conformal coating.

My only real complaint is that i never feel that I can see well enough. On both quads, one with a Micro Swift 2, one with the Rotor Riot Swift 2. It's just so blurry that i feel i can't see enough depth or detail. I'm sort of just flying over green amorphous ground. I need to spend a good session dialing in the lense focus and camera and goggle settings. Really, the best looking cam/vid i have is the one on the AcroBee whoop. But it's also flown only indoors so the distance is always fairly close.

I wonder how long it'll be before we get low latency HD FPV?

We already do.  It's called Connex ProSight.  It's expensive

I don't think the Connex is working out, many people I know have sold theirs because it just isn't very practical (too big, too fragile, too expensive), at least for now.
The FPV market is such a niche market and there is too little money for R&D, not enough incentive for businesses to throw money for development.
Take GoPro, they are discontinuing the Session 5 without hesitation despite how much the FPV community love it. That shows how insignificant we are LOL Big Grin

Three years later!...

I'm getting back into this hobby and brushed the dust off the Remix.

1. One bottom rail on the bottom part, sort of like ski skids, broke awhile back so I took that section apart and gorilla glued it back together again. Seems good.
2. I replaced the camera with a Phoenix 2 JB Edition Micro. It has a significantly better picture. It looks great. The only issue is that the Micro sized camera is recessed too far back in the carbon frame so I can see the frame in the camera. Apparently they addressed this in the Remix V2 design. Fortunately all the new frame parts are backwards compatible so I ordered the V2 camera plates.
3. I replaced the RX with an ExpressLRS EP1 and got it all setup last night. Seems to be working, but haven't flown yet.
4. I flashed Betaflight 4.2.9 and got RPM filtering setup. I also updated the ESCs.

Once the camera plates come in I'll finish putting it all back together and take it for a flight. This frame is a neat design exercise, but its far too complicated and because of that heavy and a pain to service.
