Simple ESC question
#1
I have always used 4 in 1 ESC's so never used the single ones.

Other than power are they as simple as connecting the wires from the flight controller esc 1-4 ports to it?

With single ESCS you have to solder the signal and ground wire to fc pads. The pads are typically large so the solder job is easy. You can even getaway without soldering the ground wire, just the signal. It's easy, it's just not so clean as a stack setup.

Blew another 4 in 1 up. They get expensive when you go over 35A so thinking this might be a solution.

I agree.

I have a Tyro99 that has a 4 in 1 ESC, but my martian's have single ESCs just because of situations like that.
If somehow, because of a short, a bad motor or the ESC itself, gets damaged you can have a spare and just replace it. If it is a 4 in 1 you may still have a spare but you will have to invest a little more.
Also in terms of replacing is way easier to replace a single ESC because you don't have to unsolder all the 4 motors.

Now after all of that being said I'm going to point you to a 4 in 1 that might be very good and interest you Smile contradictions...
You now have the T-motor PACER V45A 45A 3-6S BLheli_32 4In1 that has really a good price, 35$. Disclaimer, I don't have one and nobody knows if they are good, but the brand inspires some confidence.

I ordered (and I'm still waiting) the T-Motor 35A single ESCs but if it was now I might had give a chance to this new 4 in 1 ESCs.
They are so cheap comparing to the ones I bought.

I picked up a T-Motor Velox 4-in-1 (so the *really* cheap one) pretty much as soon as they became available, because for that price I figured why not? And like you say, the T-Motor brand counts for a lot.

It's on my 6-inch cruiser at the moment and has yet to catch on fire, but it's not being stressed at all on that quad. TBH without proper test equipment (a la Drone Mesh) and then flying it hard for 6 months it's really hard to judge the quality of ESCs.

The ground is for dead people.

That's true. If it doesn't catch fire it is already a good ESC for me Big Grin Of course I know that noisy ESCs may not burn but will not deliver a clean flight. Let's see Drone Mesh noise tests on those.

My martian 2 215mm has Racerstar ESCs and they have been pretty good, or at least reliable, so far.
I would go with any T-Motor ones and these new 4 in1 are at a really good price.

That does look like a good option thanks. If I do get one i'll know pretty quickly how good they are under real stress Smile

My issue is I really hurt my quads. My main hammer quad runs a T-Motor F55A PRO II with 2306 2345KV motors on 5055's using 5s batteries. It is so fast that half the time I don't even see the twig that spins me out of control. I really hate ghost twigs.

I am about to pull apart this quad to fit a proper vtx as I tend to go stuff it and do a long full throttle runs which makes me loose video pretty fast so figured whilst doing this i'll rewire the esc so I can get amp draw so I know what I am actually doing so I can decide what to do with my broken one.

The one which I blew up is running the Mamba 405 stack and one motor has stopped spinning. Its a pretty beefy stack so should have handled it. It did blow on a full throttle crash and it took me probably longer than normal to disarm but still. Doing dumb stuff like this things tend to get expensive hence the idea of going single ESC's.

Oh, yeah. That'll do it. That's a high pitch for 4S, let alone 5!

What does your maximum amp draw look like? You must be getting close to the limit of the batteries.

The ground is for dead people.
