TMotor F55 Pro ii ESC won't power FC after crash
#1
Quad crashed hard and cracked the bottom plate, and damaged the gopro. Everything else superficially appears fine.

Plugging in the battery gives the ESC startup sound, but no power to FC, so it doesn't have the initialization tone. No power to vtx or radio transmitter.

However, plugging the FC into USB powers everything up. Everything works great (vtx, radio link, telemetry, etc). If I plug in USB in betaflight AND plug in a battery then I can spin the motors and everything seems to check out fine in betaflight.

I tried swapping the cable between ESC and FC. No difference.

It seems the BEC power output died upon crashing.... I haven't peeled back the heatsink to get a visual on it.... But I suppose that or swapping the ESC is the next thing to try....

Or is it? Anyone have any other ideas on what to try?
Like figure out a way to power the FC separately?

Plug in a battery and mesure the voltage on the 5v rail to get sure.
Mesure the power supply from the esc either.

You could add an external bec and hive it a try thatway. Add a capacitator if there isnt one already.

If the esc does supply power on + and gnd, it might be the esc.

Okay, so I had a minute to do some more testing.... Turns out my hypothesis was wrong. It's actually the FC's BEC that died. This stack passes battery voltage to the FC, and it handles everything (T-motor F722).

Battery voltage at the FC is live. It just doesn't power the FC or any of the peripherals (vtx, receiver, buzzer). Plugging in USB powers everything up.

So if I find myself a 5V/2A BEC and wire it to the 5V rail somewhere, I will also need to rewire some other peripherals like vtx... It's going to be a janky build at the end of this.

Or I get myself another FC and retire this one? What other options do I have?
