RC and FPV market is dead / The decline of the hobby

Hi txbdan,

Does "click bait" mean something that entices you to "click" on it and watch  Huh

I guess finding an unpopulated place to fly drones is not too hard in some locations; for some people.
I guess flying in areas where you have no possible chance of retrieving a downed drone is also fine for some people.

Where I live, we continually search for a "decent" unpopulated place to fly. By that I mean, somewhere that is both large enough and clear enough that there is a decent chance of finding a downed drone. First, there are really very few good public or accessible locations just to launch from. The trees are very dense and over 100 feet tall...leaving limited unblocked airspace {clear RC  and Video signal LOS} between pilot and drone. Yeah, I lost a quad due to this very situation...the video signal became blocked by tall trees. The next obstacle is the brush which is very dense, very hazardous, and essentially impossible to get through...oh yeah that would also be on either private or restricted property.

Places that I just don't consider flying over are:  residential areas, farms, private commercial property, industrial complexes, interstate highways, large bodies of water, dense forested areas, and any restricted airspace or no fly zones per Airmap.

Now, flying the beach might actually be the most viable location, but still has its hazards. Where I live the actual beach is quite narrow...ocean on one side, hazardous brush and private residential property on the other which leaves a very narrow recovery area should the quad go down. Oh yeah, the people...now that is yet another consideration. At some point, I may consider a "beach run" {maybe to try for my 5K badge}, but I don't see it as being a regular fly location.

So...I continually search for a good location to fly that is rural {no people} where I can at least have a decent place to launch from before encountering the tall trees...get to an altitude for clear RC and video signal links.

Is it easy to find a good place to fly {especially with an untested aircraft}...maybe for some, maybe not for others.
