Noob Wiring Omen????
#1
Exclamation
Evening Everyone.Im Sure there's a Quick Answer to my Quick Question...

Is there like some "Un-Said Omen" to where your not typically suppose to run any wires between the FC & the ESC?...?????

Anyone that happens to be curious, Im only running a SB F7V3 / 50A Stack, in my Mark4 - 8in

Im putting my TBS Sixty 9 in the rear where the Air 03 unit will eventually go.
And some ridiculous Analog Camera that came with my Walkera F-210 3D ...
(I believe its the "700TVL - 12V"  Hunk of Love... aka Junk) up front for now.. I had some Really Shieatty Ass Experience before with
that camera & 200 mW of supposed power....

At least in my opinion that is. Maybe I got something wrong when setting up that F-210 and the Really Swell set of Goggles 4, that came with it..

For Instance, With me at my bench in the garage, Typical neighborhood, houses roughly 50 ft apart from each other, I could leave the F-210 on the bench, and walk to my Mailbox, Maybe @ Best, 100 ft, And Id loose signal... It was EXTREMLY Disappointing to say the least. And is the ONLY reason why I never went any further trying to use the Analog FPV gear that came with my F-210..

Might some of yall think I was wrong in my set-up, BC in your experience - etc etc etc.... You never experienced anything so Shieatty when flying your XXX, with the same camera, and the same TX-5825 OutPut Power @ +/- 200mw....

Anyway... Sorry to ramble more than needed...

But Thanks

You are definitely doing something wrong. Tongue I have a HM VTX that does 200mW and I've had that out quarter of a mile with decent image. Check everything from the wiring to the antennas and ideally try different ones. If you have poor signal it won't be the camera, it's the VTX or antenna.

For the future, try and avoid combined Rx/VTX solutions. If they go wrong you basically brick everything. A cheap 600mW VTX and a cheap Rx will be better, as killing one will not generally kill the other. Keep it as modular as possible.

The other possibility is you have an a-hole neighbour who is swamping the airwaves with an OP wifi router. One place I fly at has this issue in one corner of the field. I took my wifi RF kit up there and someone is running a 5.8GHz AP and it's chugging out crazy power, like 1w of power. I dunno, maybe he is trying to use his wifi from the nearest pub (1 mile away) or something.

B.)  Very Valid Point, And Note to Self made..lol

C.)  Ya know, As I was reading the last part of your reply, One of those light bulbs above my head just lit up...lol Im an IT Guy, and my garage is set-up to a T with Multiple AP's, rtouters, All kinds of WiFi BS. And I'll show my ass hewre a little bit, That thought NEVER even entered my mind!!! I feel a lil like an idiot, But a proud idiot I might be... Thats a Really Good, GREAT Point Brah.......

Thanks for taking a minute to respond to my Post - I Appreciate it.....

I was curious as to if there was some un-said thing to where one should NOT run any wires between the FC & the ESC????

Also, The wires that Im going to run & extend, Im going to re-use some non-conductive aluminum foil that was used to wrap a pair of wires that came in one of my X-Finity HDMI Cables. I was digging around looking for some of the same sized wires around my shop and had a bright idea to strip back an HDMI cable to see if in fact some of those wires were the same size, And to my surprise "They Absolutely Were".... And ironically enough they even were the same colors that I needed... So I used my meter to see if this "Tin Foil" was conducive, and in fact it is "NOT".

So I was like Hell Ya... I'll use that stuff to run my TBS 69 to the FC, and use the same to run the camera, and then un-peel the "Tin Foil" if you will, and wrap the wires for my New "HGLRC M100-5883" GPS...

Stupid Idea??????

Whats ur opinion on the GPS I just bought???

Anyone have any opinion on running the RX/VTX wires between the FC & ESC?
or
Any thoughts on using that non-conductive aluminum foil, (if you will) to encase the above wires, and probaly the GPS and other misc wires??

Hi Cole,

For now, just a quick comment. I run wires everywhere and have never had
any issues with it. I will need to do a bit of research on your components to
see if I think that might be the issue.

I DO NOT shield the wires with anything and had no issues. What ever the
issue is, it is not that.

Non-Conductive aluminum foil?  Seriously.  Is there such stuff (got a link).
Personally, I would NOT use the stuff.

Later, iFly   High Five
