My little 2.5" bundle of fun
#1
Here's my 2.5" that I build a few months ago.  https://rotorbuilds.com/build/8591  This thing has always flown great and I've crashed it dozens of times with no damage.  Once it even went into a lake along the shore after I clipped an oak branch.  It was under for a few minutes while I located it and fished it out of the water.  Cleaned it up and dried it off and it still worked perfectly.  The FC has MWOSD which I have never been able to get working right so I just got an Omnibus Nano with BF OSD to put in it.  Should be an easy upgrade.  I recently stuck a XM+ RX in it so now I'll have much better range and the OSD is needed since I may not hear the buzzer.  Thinking of building a 3" now.

After building The Japalura (a 3"), The Bug (a 2.5") is still my favorite flyer right now.  The only issue I have found is that The Bug only weighs in at 135 grams with a 650mah pack included in that total...it FLOATS...like it is hard to get it to fall into maneuvers and takes some skill to keep from overshooting targets.  During some flying today, the hang times were almost unbearable (OMG, so many issues to work through Wink )

You have a really nice build there and I am sure you will really enjoy flying it!  What batteries have you chosen to power it?

OMG, no one told me it would be this much fun!  Addicted :)

Thanks.  I'm using 450mah 3S.  I know what you mean by floaty, at just over 120g with battery it shoots into the air like a rocket then seems to float and not fall like my 5" quads.  Only time it comes down fast is when I forget to throttle down while doing an inverted yaw spin.  It comes down fast then. Smile

I've been eyeing the Japalura 3".  How do you like it?

I really like it!  The build log is here.  It is still in its infancy as it still has only 3S packs to fly on.  Went with lower kv motors and feel that the extra "oomph" of 4S would bring it to life!

Just posted a video of testing it in small tree stand I found a few weeks ago.

It is going to take a little getting used to having gravity effects being more pronounced with the extra weight, but it feels like it will fly better as I improve with it!  The frame is a real tank and that one can use mini (30.5mm) or micro (20mm) control boards in nice.  Was lucky to see it on sale for a few days and grabbed the frame.  Built the rest from a lot of spare parts with a few new things added.  Versatile Smile
