Got my new toys today, tomorrow the fun starts
#1
Had to go to the PO twice today to get everything.
GEPRC Cinebot 30 w/ELRS
RadioMaster Ranger ELRS module
6s 1100mAh 75c batteries
Other small and sundry things

Tomorrow I learn how to setup a RadioMaster TX16S and a Cinebot 30. Hopefully I’ll finish tomorrow or Wednesday and get to try a maiden flight in.

The only thing left is goggles. I’m still looking hard at the SKY 04X

Hopefully I can now climb out of this rabbit hole. It’s sorta been fun but it’s suer as heck has been frustrating

I certainly enjoy my set of 04X's, and now they ship with the fixed receiver that doesn't do goofy stuff with the sync. The DVR is really good too! Hope you have a smooth maiden!

Thank you. This is a giant step up from the EZ Pilot Pro. Not to put it down but the limitations far exceed the beginner positives. Not to say there are serious work arounds but, to me, I’m not ready to go that deep.

Everything I’ve read/seen has been mostly positive. If anyone has a better recommendation I’m open to ideas

I forgot to ask what antenna do you recommend.

I tend to go with either TrueRC or Lumenier brand antennas. Omnidirectionals are best for short range and patches/helicals if you're going far or have difficult obstructions to transmit through.

Grrrrrrr. After a day of frustration I couldn’t get thr Ranger to flash no matter what I did. I followed 3 different tutorials to no avail I gave up and decided to try again today

I finally realized that the Ranger module I have does not work. I finally was able to get a response from the vendor. Ran a couple of troubleshooting operations and it was determined that it’s DOA.

Another one is being sent and I bundled the dead Ranger up and mailed it back. Unfortunately on my nickel. If they do confirm it’s nothing I did they will credit me the shipping.
Hopefully the new Ranger will get here on Monday.

At least I still have the Pilot Pro to fly

Woohoo... that's quite an exciting round of shipments you have there!

Sucks you had to pay for shipping on a DOA. Did you buy direct from RM or something?

AFAIK, RM isn't one of those shady companies that requires dealing direct for warranty service. At least pyrodrone doesn't show the red flag on their Ranger module listings. I got burned by Hobbywing warranty service before... since that I have stayed far from such companies that require "a private room to bully their customers" over claims, lol.

No, I did not get from RM. The vendor was helpful. I send the Ranger to them and they will deal with Radio Master or whoever they deal with.

Awesome, sounds like you'll be ready soon then. Did you decide on the 04x's? I can give another vote for them... been loving mine 100% since I got 'em. The other day I played with flying them while it was 108*F outside. I'm one of those types who sweats profusely with any heat, and the goggles stayed nice and fresh inside the whole time. The vinyl face gasket was nasty sweaty lol, but it was easy to wipe all that off vs foam padding.
