M5 nuts self-locking for propellers
#1
Hello Smile

i want to buy some m5 nuts self-locking, but there are two kind of these nuts.

a nut version, which I usually see on drones, has some sort of extension. While the other is simpler without extension.

that with a sort of extension at the bottom:

this other without:

can both fit or is it better to use those that have that sort of extension and are a little more expensive?

Both will fit but I recommend that you get the ones with the flange on as they create a bigger surface area on the item they are bolting down that helps to spread the pressure rather than concentrating it over a smaller area which has the potential to crack the hub of the prop if you manage to overtighten it.

i have tried to ask to seller, but didn't reply yet.

is there a way to ask to clients on aliexpress as on amazon ?

if black M5 10 units are Cw ?

they don't really talk about it, but I wouldn't find CCW nuts

All nuts have a normal right-hand thread (clockwise to tighten) unless they are stated as "reverse" threaded. I thought the new motors you bought for your Wizard were all CW threaded motors (?)

You can contact individual sellers on AliExpress about a listing just like you can on eBay by clicking on the link next to their store name under the listing.

I agree with Snow. + 1   Get the ones with the built-in flange (it serves as a washer). Motors should all be CW as are most nuts.

At the end i took the nuts with the flange as adviced, but i have an idea...because considering that i have alredy at home some nuts without flange and are self-locking...in case of emergency could be used with an m5 washer that maybe go to do the same work of the flange ?

Yes, normal nylock nuts with washers will do the same job just fine. They just won't look quite as aesthetically pleasing, but some people don't really care about looks over function as long as things work.
