Removing EMAX Tinyhawk 3 propellers
#1
Yesterday I spent hours trying to get a damaged propeller off an EMAX Tinyhawk 3 (this is a pusher drone).  I would have the fingers of one hand camped on the to top to the motor where it attached to the frame and the other set of fingers clamped around the central part of the propeller and pulled while twisting and pulled and pulled,. The propeller did not budge.

I then tried method 2 using a very small phillips screwdriver against the motor shaft poking through the middle of the propeller while pulling the propeller towards the screwdriver. The still propeller did not budge.

The EMAX manual tells me to use my first method and the prop will just pop off. Super easy to do apparently.

By now my fingers were sore and I gave up on both methods. I got my pair of Mini Flush Cutters and cut the propeller off of the motor.

Is there a trick in removing the props from the Tinyhawk that is kept in great secret?  Please tell……

My Mobula6 had come with a prop removal tool like this: https://www.phaserfpv.com.au/products/uw...emovaltool

You can make one using some scrap metal and a file or a dremel.

Thanks kafie1980, I have one of those but it will not work with how the propeller fits onto the Tinyhawk 3 motor.

Tinyhawk motor / prop design is one of the worst.. they not only are tight against the shaft.. they are tight around the motor bell..the trick is to pull on the prop blades with one set of fingers and pull the motor/ frame with the other hand.. or.. push with a flat round handled object against the shaft and push the prop blades in the opposite direction.. but BE CAREFULL.. you can stab ur hand!

For me with my gemfan 40mm 1,5mm shaft props on my build i never get them off by hand or prop remover. I destory my fingers or bend/break the shaft if i tried as i have the props all the way pushed down tight to the bell.
I found the only way that worked for me is to use an adjustable grip plier (like this https://www.toolstation.nl/irwin-vise-gr...oqEALw_wcB ).
I Adjust it to exacly fit the motor without forcing it, then from the bottom carefully place it and adjust the knob to add just enough force for a good grip with the left hand. Then from the top i use any sort of plier to grip the prop with the right hand and turn left and right while pulling upward exactly vertical as to not bend the shaft.
With a bit of practice its now super easy. You do scratch the motor outsides this way but you can avoid that by adding some rubber material on the adjustable grip plier .

And make sure you always have some spare motors in case you mess up as super delicate or burn them :-)
As it takes months to get them here in NL i just have a dozen or so spares always for my little whoops.

Thanks everyone for responding. When I bought the Tinyhawk 3, I bought it with an extra air frame and 4 motors. Next time I will try the vice grip pliers technique mentioned above.
