Help with li-ion pack style
#1
Hi Guys,

I'm new to LoRa, till now I only fly semi LoRa with a LW GEPRC Crocodile Baby 5".

At the last weeks I build an 7" from the GEPRC Crocodile 7 analog frame version which was on Sale at GEPRC.

My Setup is following:
-GEPRC Crocodile 7" analog Frame (I constructed all TPU Parts)
-Emax ECO II 2807 1300kV
-DJI Air Unit with Nebula Pro cam and long iFlight Albatross Antennas.
-868Mhz ELRS @ Frsky R9 Slim+ (Immoral T Antenna and DIY Dipole Antenna which is tuned)
-iFlight F7 FC
-iFlight 55A ESC
-Flywoo GPS with compass
-Vifly Finder 2
-6S 3200mAh 75C (I guess 60C or a little bit lower is the true C rate)

So far I've only flown with the 3200mAh Lipo. I already have 21700 Molicel P42A and experience with spot welding li-ion packs.

With the 7" I'm not sure which variant is the smartest. 3 rows with 2 cells each or all cells in two rows.
With the long version, the space for the gopro is tight.

What do you think is the smartest solution?

That depends on what you want from it. 6s4000 batteries are not enough for really LR flights. So you need more than one 6s battery. So you need space, and the most compact is, of course, a block. And the compact battery also makes it easier for you to correct the CG, there is somewhere to move it if needed. The photo shows the configuration of 2x 6s4000 21700 Molicel P42A.

Thank you for your hints.
I didn't think of a 6S2P setup. The fact that a 6S1P is no longer sufficient will certainly come with time when the distances get farer. My first thought was that a long pack is better for an good CG, but you're right I haven't place for movements and the needed place for a second pack.

Hi,

Im using 2 packs on my 7 inch.
I have made the long configuration (3cells 2 Rows) with 16850 Sony / Murata US18650VTC6 3000mAh - 30A
One on the top and one underneath.
Total flight time of around 18min and it handles great.
I am going to built new Packs in the same configuration with 21700 Sony / Murata US21700VTC6A 4100mAh - 40A cells
This should extend the time further and should add some extra power.
My mind is like an internet browser,
At least 27 open tabs,
6 of them are frozen,
And where the hell is that music is coming from.....
