HDZero Goggles (Pre-Order)
#16

That was probably a wise move TBH. Let others be the first real world beta testers. Buying the first batch of any hardware is always a bit of a gamble and there is much less temptation to do so if it's not at a discounted price like the Walksnail Avatar HD VRX hardware is.

There have been some suggestions that the second batch might appear sometime at the end of January / February.

I would assume HDZero will make a second batch immediately after selling out so quickly.
It just makes sense business wise to have goggles available when reviews come out to help close the sales on pilots who are on the fence about HDZero.
I’d say by Christmas or maybe before HDZero goggles will be available for pre sales at all the major vendors.
Since WS is doing it and it’s working HDZero better follow suit.

I guess it all depends on whether or not Divimath want to consider any customer feedback before commissioning another manufacturing batch run. If a load of reviews highlight issues that require some kind of hardware tweak then it would have been a bad move to immediately start a second batch run. No-one other than Carl knows what their plans are but based on previous releases there is usually a gep between batch runs.

While Carl's plan was always to release the HDZero goggles before Christmas, I wouldn't be at all surprised if the originally stated shipping date ends up slipping. Maybe some of them will make it to buyers before Christmas and some won't. The same goes for the Walksnail VRX. I wouldn't be surprised to see people end up getting them after the new year.

It has been confirmed that 500 pairs of HDZero goggles were released for sale to the general and another 100 pairs have gone to beta testers, so that makes a total of 600 pairs of goggles were produced in the first batch run. There is no word on when a second batch will be commissioned but I still think we will be lucky to see any more up for sale before February 2023. It's the winter season in a lot of places now anyway where sales are generally lower so there is probably less urgency to get another immediate production run done until there has been some customer feedback from the first batch.

Carl has also released the following photos of the painted injection moulded production goggles...

There’s an unofficial announcement on discord that the second batch is expected to be be ready for shipping by mid January and pre-orders maybe even earlier.

Did anyone get one from here? I'd be curious what you think when you get it.

For me, I'm really satisfied with the Shark Byte module and HDO combo I use. Even my backup SB module on a set of Dom v3's is pretty good.

As much as am in need of new goggles (FS DOM V3), I did decide to wait…yes, I did order the WS VRX without thinking of defects / return…so I’m gonna see if one of the stateside retailers will be offering sales..JUST INCASE ..

I will get HDZero goggles once I see if the reviews match the hype and most of all if the lens inserts will work with my prescription needs.
I’d really like to see hdzero have a vtx with a power between 200mw and 600mw.

WS I still don’t know.

Yes, with a 20x20 mounting would be nice. 30x30 is the 5” standard.. but the way I see things going 20x20 sub 250g… the smaller mounting would be a good place to be for most .

Hey guys, busy couple of months and just catching up on the forum; a lot of exciting FPV stuff happening nowadays!

Wanted to mention that I'm expecting to get a set of the HDZero Beta Goggles in early December. They were supposed to ship on Monday but, factory delays in China got us again... the new shipment date is targeted for Nov 30th.

(Side note: I told the team they should start padding the delivery dates by at least two weeks to avoid disappointing folks. It's better to say "Good News, we can ship earlier than expected" vs "Bad news, shipments are delayed".)

Anyway, I also ordered a WS VRX and I'm excited to see how that works with the new goggles! I hope they can develop a software fix that allows the WS system to be used at 100/90fps without issue.

Also curious to test out the 1080p30 mode that HDZero is supposed to implement, but I haven't heard anything about that yet...

My current setup is a pair of original HDOs, so either way, it'll be a nice upgrade.

FYI...

Some beta testers for the new HDZero goggles have reported that they've received an email stating that their goggle shipments will be delayed by about 10 days due to the current COVID lockdown situation in China. It's possible that the delays may also affect shipments of the non-beta tester pre-orders.

My beta googles are in Germany, so should be here Monday or Tuesday, which is a good sign. Excited to test them out.

Also China just eased their Covid restrictions going forward so that should help avoid delays in the future.

I seen you got your HDZero goggles on your YouTube channel.
 Just curious,
Did you get one of the Nano 90 cameras?
I’m looking forward to seeing your review of the goggles.
One thing HDZero has over all digital goggles is it has the possibility of being the best analog goggles ever made.
If they are it’ll be difficult not to order a pair.

"Hot off the press" First Impressions.

I did not get a 90fps camera, Carl offered one but said he didn't have many so I told him to send it to a proper FPV Racer person.  I'm more interested in the 1080p30 development, which I heard Carl and team are actually working on now! So that will be interesting, can't wait to see if it actually improves the image, especially with these new 1080p capable goggles.

Anyway, happy to answer questions, I'll be flying with them this weekend and hope to get a better feel for the new goggles. Cheers!
