MAYBE there is still a chance my wife’s school can be listed so the kids can actually fly outside… From what I heard, Bardwell was denied a FRIA... I can't find any info where it is approved, but I have been wrong before............. but I can't remember when LOL. 18-Mar-2024, 09:19 AM It’s Blunty se submitted the applications with a few minor “changes”.. the fpv freedom collision obtained more information and this aided in decision change.. I’m surprised It’s Blunty hasn’t made a “clip” about that.. 18-Mar-2024, 09:21 AM (18-Mar-2024, 03:53 AM)brettbrandon Wrote: From what I heard, Bardwell was denied a FRIA... The FPV Freedom Coalition recently resubmitted an amended application for JB's property to be a FRIA and it got approved. It was mentioned in a couple of his recent live streams. The only gotcha is that if he is creating flight footage for any of his YouTube videos (which is for business purposes) he will be flying under the context of Part 107 rules which means he would legally require a Remote ID module to be fitted to any of his quads including ones that are under 250g because even if flying within a FRIA, if you are doing so under Part 107 you are required to have a Remote ID module fitted to a UAS aircraft. So he either just won't post flight footage or he will say he is using a Remote ID module on his quads even if he isn't and no-one will be able to prove otherwise just from video footage. I will put money on it being the latter, especially for any micro quads where every gram of extra weight matters. 18-Mar-2024, 03:24 PM YAWN, stretch......yeah, I haven't complied and will never comply with regs that are meant to fix something that isn't/wasn't broken. 20-Mar-2024, 01:46 PM … I know this has been asked before.. but here is a twist.. A UAS pilot (according to the FAA) can only operate ONE UAS at a time…now we know exceptions are made for these “drone light show” companies (we have one in town tonight )…. How does RID effect them.? I know they are not flying in a FIA.. 200 drones in the sky being operated by “one” pilot…I know they have a GPS and altimeters… they should be here this afternoon … gonna pose this question to the company rep… gonna be curious of the response .. 20-Mar-2024, 02:27 PM Drone light shows generally have to be officially approved / licensed events so they probably have an exemption from Remote ID, and there is very likely also a temporary flight restriction order in place while the show is on so that other pilots (manned or otherwise) aren't allowed to fly anywhere near that particular air space. Also, all of the drones are flown by a computer, so there is no "pilot" per se. 20-Mar-2024, 03:18 PM … yeah, pretty much what I figured…kinda like “fireworks”… 21-Mar-2024, 01:08 PM It is possible to get a waiver for just about anything. Of course, there are likely a lot of things that have to be in order; all your ducks in a row so to speak. On the other hand, me getting a BVLOS flight waiver, might be a stretch. They just don't hand waivers out like candy. It takes more than just saying... "I want a waiver". A "phenomenon" I have seen a bunch of times already involves RC airplane pilots at my local fields who are buying and installing RID's in their fixed wing aircraft even though we fly at FRIA's. I ask them why would they do that and the universal response is they just want to see how it works, or they couldn't resist spending money on a gadget, or now they feel more like real pilots because they are complying with FAA mandates (OK I made that last one up). I politely say I would rather not attract attention, we are in a FRIA, we don't need them and using them is just going to clutter up our patch of sky with signals and possibly attract the law, who we would then need to educate. Oh well. They probably wonder "what's his problem"? I just hate losing my freedom... being monitored by big brother. I also noticed the fixed wing guys that I fly with fly only in large OPEN area… and usually the same places , like ball fields or parks. Kind of “self restricting”. And honestly they fly strictly LOS.. not fpv. And YES, one did buy a RID module just to see how it worked, I’m pretty sure local law enforcement wouldn’t bother the old dudes in the park, not nothing anyone.. UNTILL someone complains, forcing the office to “do a report”.. adding that pilot to their database…yeah, the old fixed wing guys DGAF.. but I don’t want to see someone get wrapped up in litigation for BS. Fov (quad) pilots will fly ANYWHERE! And use buildings, trees, light poles, parking garages as proximity measurements. Now I know there are some fixed wing guys that will fly anywhere.. but I’m betting most are quad pilots. I’m looking at learning fixed wing stuff.. maybe a foamy.. 22-Mar-2024, 11:17 AM Just sayin' ... I have been watching some fixed wing dogfight videos where they have fitted the camera inside the cockpit and are chasing each other around. Plus, I saw one video where the fixed wing pilot took off and flew out quite a distance before returning. It was almost dark. If not for the low light camera, he wouldn't have been able to see. Plus, I have seen a couple of VTOL planes with FPV. The point is that the fixed wing pilots are getting into the FPV game. These guys are NOT flying LOS, they are now FPV pilots. Yeah, they still need a bit of space...until someone makes a "mini" or a "micro" plane or wing. Now, wouldn't that be cute? A plane about the size of a 4-inch quad with FPV. No, I am not going to build one. But, wouldn't that be cute. 22-Mar-2024, 01:07 PM I'd adore a tiny plane, but I understand that they get less and less stable as size decreases. Would definitely cruise the local park with that. Maybe attempt to emulate Mr Voll... 22-Mar-2024, 01:43 PM (22-Mar-2024, 09:20 AM)Rob Axel Wrote: Fov (quad) pilots will fly ANYWHERE!
