Goggles X Unable to recover all 8 channels
#1
I got my new Walksnail Avatar Goggles X. They came with the latest Beta Firmware 36.42.4 loaded. I had access to all 8 channels. At some point today while flying and experimenting with changing settings between flights I lost 4 of the channels, now I just have 1-3 plus CHP. I figured that happened when I selected High Bitrate from reading Oscar Liang. But going back to Standard Bitrate did not restore all 8 channels. Reading old posts here I decided to do a factory Reset but this did not restore all 8 channels either. I'm at a loss now for what to do next. Quad is Flywoo Nano Baby 1s.

At some point I realized that the Bitrate is only selectable when my quad is bound to the goggles. And it is fixed at Standard Bitrate. High Bitrate is not selectable. Obviously I have no idea where Channels 4-7 have gone. Perhaps the Flywoo Nano Baby is not capable of using them? That sounds very odd to me though. And the channels are missing when the quad is not bound to the goggles also.

Here's what I think I learned today. Goggles X come "unlocked" with all 8 channels. There is no SD card in the goggles. Once you bind a quad and start flying and screwing around with your goggles at some point you might realize you only have 4 channels. Maybe after you inserted an SD card to record your flights. Maybe after you formatted the SD card in the goggles. Maybe after you selected High Frame Rate (no wait, your quad doesn't support that, or does it? Who knows? At this point your only option may be to download the FCC Unlock files from the CaddX website, reformat the SD card, drop those files onto the card, and boot up the goggles with the SD card installed. You might notice that Mac can't read SD cards formatted in your Avatar goggles. Hopefully you have an ancient Windows 7 notebook under your bed! Then you can get all your channels back Smile And have a good look at those channel frequencies while you are at it, because in Walksnail land Channel 1 is a different frequency band depending on whether you have 4 channels or 8 channels! Amazing. Even if you take the SD card out of your goggles you will still have all 8 channels. Now to figure out how I locked it back up in the first place. Because I wouldn't want to do that again.
