Port, what you purposed is correct if the S. Port pad on the FC has hardware inversion. If it doesn't, then you need to solder the tiny pad labeled P on the R-XSR to the TX1 (S. Port). We can talk about the settings to make it work. If you don't want to guess whether TX1 has inversion circuit or ot, you can just use another free UART TX. I powered it up off my Toolkitrc M6 charger (cool little piece of kit) and bound it then flashed F.Port off my X Lite. Green light is on so it's ready and waiting all the other bits! Once you've wired up the S.Port pad of your R-XSR to the Mamba F405US Mini Mk3 flight controller using the dedicated S.Port/F.Port pad, run the following commands in the CLI... Code: feature -RX_PPM feature -RX_PARALLEL_PWM feature RX_SERIAL feature TELEMETRY serial 0 64 115200 57600 0 115200 set serialrx_provider = FPORT set serialrx_halfduplex = OFF set serialrx_inverted = ON save
Then in the Ports tab of Betaflight Configurator, make sure you have "Serial RX" switched off for all UARTs other than UART1. Priceless, thank you. I'd never have got that, will read up on the settings. Sounds like my thinking is right and the Mamba will handle fport and won't need the pad hack. I doubt checked the wiring and pulled the white and green wires from the r-xsr, S.Port yellow wire ready for some FC soldering action. Mamba was sent on the 17th and at Heathrow already... The Mamba F405US Mk3 stack is here. Ordered 3rd, dispatched 17th, arrived 22nd so very fast once not on "pre-order". It was packed in a nice little tin, different from the photos I've seen of the Mk2. Package somewhat different from what diatone advised, which I was expecting; FC, ESC and cable (and a spare) - Betaflight 4.0.5 was installed, latest version 4.1.3 is ready to go. 6cm silicone (looks like 16 or 18 awg) XT60 (I need XT30) capacitor (35V 470uf, any point using smaller for a micro build?) M2 screws - 15mm o/all, 13mm long thread 5 spare silicone dampers, in blue, purple were installed. Decisions! 5 clear nylon M2 nuts Lots of damping washers My frame has 3mm mounting holes so I've put the spare soft mounts in the hole, they are just right to take the M2 screw and space the ESC off the deck. I have ordered 25mm screws to mount my VTX and RX in the stack. The soft mounts supplied with the frame will go in the 3mm VTX holes. I have props, VTX, antenna but no mountings screws, XT30's or LiPos so little I can do for now. It's going to be extremely tight to get everything in! The main problem is the VTX has both mmcx and ufl connectors. I opted to for a mmcx but the connector is quite long and not flexible in the first 10mm. With the VTX in, the connector is right behind the LEDs that mount in the printed back piece. To run the mmcx, I'll have to drill out the 3d printed back plate and possibly ditch the LEDs, which is less than ideal. I've ordered a ufl antenna since that'll come out of the top of the VTX board and looks like it'll rotate then bend, so should solve the clearance issues. I'll only know once I get it, and the stack bolts, though. And another wait for the antenna. Fingers crossed. Common sense says I should wait until I get all the parts test fitted before doing anything else, but I'm tempted to fit the pigtail, cap, motors and RX so I can at least test the motors and set them up and confirm RX works properly on fport. It's all got to go in somehow, and ESC at the bottom then FC seems to be the way to start. I could have bought the PNP version, but where's the fun in that! • Posts: 12,099 Threads: 125 Likes Received: 3,739 in 2,836 posts Likes Given: 99 Joined: Feb 2017 Reputation: 388 I would get the RX working first. Flash it with new firmware. But beware of the new 2.xx version as Snow outlined here. https://intofpv.com/t-beware-frsky-accst...x-firmware • Posts: 170 Threads: 11 Likes Received: 53 in 43 posts Likes Given: 16 Joined: Jan 2020 Reputation: 2 I'm using the fport firmware v191128, Rx is bound so need to solder it. I'm not sure it'll power off usb so I was waiting to get the LiPos connected before powering up. I may as well give it a shot though. I plugged the RX into the ToolkitRC again, very bright lights, instantly picked up the TX and solid green light, so look like the Mamba isn't powering the r-xsr properly. At least it's soldered ready to test. Looks like I need to wait for my XT30 and LiPos, or perhaps I could put the ToolkitRC in PSU mode at 12V and power the FC that way. • Posts: 12,099 Threads: 125 Likes Received: 3,739 in 2,836 posts Likes Given: 99 Joined: Feb 2017 Reputation: 388 26-Jan-2020, 07:44 PM (This post was last modified: 26-Jan-2020, 07:45 PM by voodoo614.) You also want to see a solid blue light. That means you are in sbus mode. Hold the bind button for 4 seconds and it should switch you over. I will check if my mamba powers the 5V rail or not off usb. • Posts: 170 Threads: 11 Likes Received: 53 in 43 posts Likes Given: 16 Joined: Jan 2020 Reputation: 2 26-Jan-2020, 09:54 PM (This post was last modified: 26-Jan-2020, 10:00 PM by Diggery.) There are 5 LEDs on the board, you can see them bottom left on my wiring diagram on last page. From the bottom up they are VCC, 3.3V, 5V, LED1, LED0. On USB power 3.3V lights up solid red and LED0 flashes blue. On boot LED1 flashes orange very fast and briefly before going out. Looks like I need to wait for the postman again! LiPos tracking hasn't changed since the 16th, so could be a while now. • Posts: 21,294 Threads: 589 Likes Received: 8,982 in 6,647 posts Likes Given: 1,426 Joined: Jun 2018 Reputation: 789 (26-Jan-2020, 09:54 PM)Diggery Wrote: Looks like I need to wait for the postman again! LiPos tracking hasn't changed since the 16th, so could be a while now. Where are you getting your LiPos from? If from China then be aware that there have been a few instances on here where European buyers have had them held at customs and then returned back to the Chinese seller. This is because it's not currently legal to ship LiPos into the EU from China. I managed to take delivery of some and on the outside of the package the contents were declared as phone cases to try and avert customs (see HERE), which worked on that particular occasion, but it's a bit of a dodgy practice. In future, you're better off just getting any LiPos from a UK seller. • |
