FrSky Push On With ACCESS - New "Archer" Receivers
#1
It looks like FrSky are about to release a new line of receivers under the name of "Archer". These are ACCESS only receivers. It looks like the "RS" and "M+" are probably the equivalents/replacements for the "R-XSR" and "XM+".

I wonder what will happen to their old ACCST D16 receivers. I guess it is likely that they will start to get phased out meaning that anyone still on the ACCST protocol will have to look to other manufactures for D16 compatible receivers. Maybe best to buy up a load of XM+ and R-XSR receivers while you still can.

Well if that is the case then it's really time to move to Jumper + CF.

Like many I'm so disappointed at FrSky!

Jumper has there own line of ACCST receivers now so no worry. I just hope they support Smart Port sensors also. I like to use those in my planes.

This is actually an old rebranded Hobbymate receiver. There are options, if you don't want Frsky branded receiver. But Frsky still has the best options.

I don't understand why some or even many people say they will go to a Jumper.
I mean, why not keep using your Taranis and only switch the TX to Crossfire.

I'm using a QX7S and I really like this transmitter. So I bought a TBS Micro-TX and it works fine.

FrSky is clearly pushing the ACCESS hardware and I don't want to go that way.
So I still have my R9M plus some receivers which I keep on using on my wing(s).
For new quads I put in crsf.

The only thing I had to do was a simple mod to my QX7S.
Now I keep on using the Taranis.
Buying a Jumper and leaving the QX7S to gather dust will not hurt FrSky in any way.
It's only going to hurt your wallet.

I don't think people are advocating ditching perfectly working and usable transmitters, but if your existing FrSky transmitter dies or you decide you want an "upgrade", then considering another transmitter manufacturer at this point in time might be the better option. Likewise with newcomers to the hobby, they might want to consider carefully which route they take with their RC link equipment.

I love my X9D+ and as long as OpenTX continues to support it going forward then I intend to keep using it until it either gives up or it starts to look like an antique compared to new technology that may come onto the market in a few years. That is also assuming I'm still in the multirotor hobby by then, and/or the likes of Amazon, other logistics companies and governments haven't already forced us hobbyists all out of the skies.
