Flywoo Micro Long Range
#1
Have you guys seen this new BNF by Flywoo. They have done a collaboration with Dave C. to create a 4" BNF long range drone. It claims to be able to get 17+ min. flight time out of a 1000mah 4s battery. It comes in analog or digital. Looks pretty nice!

[Image: RnUubrWl.jpg]

Nurkfpv did a video on it and he got 18 minutes flight time  with 1000mah battery.

@ronin, yeah...we {me, you, and wllm} were ahead of this curve. AND maybe just as good or better  Wink Cool

First, here is a direct quote from Oscar's review:

The whole drone weighs under 250g including 4S 650mAh LiPo (242g to be exact)
Up to 8 minutes of flight time with 4S 650mAh (cruising), 12 minutes with 1000mAh, 28 minutes with 4S 18650 Li-Ion battery (Flywoo claims 38mins, maybe they are using a better battery pack, I will re-test this when I get it from them)
GPS and rescue mode are set up right out of the box (only needs small changes)
Comes with self-powered buzzer (it beeps even when battery is ejected)

So, my guess is that the dry weight is about 160-162 grams
{my Katana-LR4 weighs about 163 grams dry with ViFly buzzer and I am running 1504.5 motors, also an extra 5v BEC}

Well, the Flywoo is 242 grams AUW with 4s 650 mAh battery...but will be over 250 g with any bigger battery setup. By the way, how much does that 4S 18650 pack weigh ?? My guess is about 200g... with this setup the AUW is about 360 grams (there goes sub 250g)

I have a 2S 18650 and it weighs 106 grams {Yeah, I am going to try it on some of my builds including the Katana-LR4}

On the Katana-LR4 maiden flight, I was running the 3S 1100 mAh GNB battery {66g}, AUW was 229 grams, and the Fly Time was over 10 minutes. // Yeah, I didn't push anything, not even the battery // Maybe I should try one of those 4S 650 mAh or 4S 1000 mAh batteries  Thinking  ...see how my baby compares  Wink

I am ordering a new FC for the Katana-LR4. During the replacement process, I intend to shave some more weight...I am looking to get the dry weight down to about 140-144 grams so I can run the 2S 18650 pack and stay under 250g AUW  Wink

I could also run bigger LiPo batteries. My target Fly Time is something over 15 minutes...maybe 18 minutes.

On the other hand, if I didn't already have my Katana-LR4; the Flywoo would certainly be a consideration  Cool  Thinking

Hi Oscar,

How much does your 4S 18650 pack weigh?  What is the AUW of the Flywoo with this pack? ...AUW with 1000 mAh LiPo?

The Flywoo Explorer looks like a real nice BNF, especially for the price. I would certainly consider one if I didn't already have my Katana-LR4 build.

You're very close. The dry weight is 164.3 grams. See 2:58 into Gal Kremer's video below...

I tell you, being "stealthy" is going to be the THING   Cool  rather than being BIG and loud...

Keep it small, Keep it quiet, and fly-it-like-you-stole-it.   Dodgy

I like 5" quads too much and unfortunately you can't keep those quiet if you want to do any sort of decent freestyle with them, as you will find out when you build yours. It must be something about the motors and props used on that class of quad which makes it sound like a scary monster. I'll just continue to fly places where there is no-one around to hear it Big Grin And if anyone does and they start getting upset then I'll just pack up quickly and leave Big Grin

4s li-ion pack is about 203g.
The weight of the quad without battery is about 163g.

Hi Snow,

I just ordered my 5 inch frame {TomoQuads Katana 2 in 5 inch version}. Although I have an extra set of 1504.5 3950kv motors {like the ones on the Katana-LR4 build}, I want to try the 2203 3450kv T-Mount motors from FPV Cycle {KababFPV}. These motors are red and white... look really cool  Cool  ...I look forward to see how they perform. Yes, I have 5 inch HQProp T-Mount props. I will use the JHEMCU flight controller. The build will basically be the Katana build with longer arms and bigger motors. I will be curious to see how loud it is.  Confused

Yeah, if I can't keep it quiet, then I will have to be careful where I fly...if it is loud that will take out my closest fly park and maybe even the soccer field where I like to fly. I need to find a long range spot anyway.  Thinking

I may end up trying the 1504.5 motors and even pick up some of those NIN 1404 motors just to see how they all compare.

This one might be over 250g AUW.

High Five

dont understand me wrong, i like your 4inch builds.
there are new lightweight props but otherwise its just hyped. 4inch long flighttime or longrange is pretty nothing new xD
