Well guys I took an sma to ufl connector off of one of the tbs Evo's that I had in the scrap pile (great vtx if they work right ) I used that together with a Lhcp tbs triumph pro did a short test flight in the dark it may be to early to tell but judging by the mbps and the signal bars I think it may be better than ever I flew a place where I always get red bars and nothing its hard to belive especially with the extra exposed sma connector I wish there was a way to keep that rf energy from escaping from there I could only imagine it would be a lot better

I wanna say that the stock atomic antenna can't handle 1200mw sounds like it must have melted the filament loose in side the bulb part of the antenna! there is no external physical damage but if u shake it it sounds like change or something rolling around in there I may take it apart just to see cause I'm curious

I suppose that's to be expected with this quad. I really hope the weather holds out this weekend. I'm going to make a 4S Li-ion 18650 pack and see what kind of flight time I can get. I'll post the results here - depending on the weather, of course Smile

I'm thinking 3s may be the way to go with that ion pack

I made the 4s version however the batteries I used were no good I did put 4 1s 550s together thats a fun little battery not much for flight time tho

This was tge first flight it was difficult because I was not used to the power after only having flown the 3s 850s.

If things work out the way I want, I should be able to test both 3 and 4S. I want to 3d print a 4 slot battery holder, so I don't have to directly solder the wire onto the battery terminals. Then wrap it with a small bit of electric tape. That way, I can replace the batteries easily. You mentioning 3S got me thinking - I can also print a 18650 "dummy" with a connecting wire through the middle and try both 3 and 4S. Thanks for the inspiration Smile

I have a ****-ton of 18650s laying around, so it will also be easier to test various brands. I guess the only thing to worry about is the extra weight, but we'll see. If it works out, I'll share the files on thingiverse.
