Despite the small savings, I'd still seriously consider building it yourself.  The value will be in knowing exactly how the thing was put together.  No matter how good the BNF, you will crash and you will have problems.  You'll then be spending time reverse engineering how they put things together rather than knowing off the bat what was used where.

I would focus on the 5" for now.  It's the de facto FPV standard ... and you'll soon see why.  Anything smaller will skew your perceptions which so far is a blank slate I'm assuming.

Personally, I think so. In a month or two we *might* (and that's a big *might*) see something released from Fat Shark but I highly doubt it will hold a candle to DJI. Many of us holding out are doing so partly in anticipation of Fat Shark's system so we don't have to ditch the expensive gear we already bought.

For XT60 and XT30 connectors what gauge wire will carry enough amps and fit in the connectors?

14 and 16 respectively

Some will argue 12 instead of 14 but thats a thick wire. Search for a Bardwell video on the topic.

I didn’t think to look what came on my LiPo packs.

My Tattu packs with XT30 plugs uses #16 and my XT60 1800-2200 packs use #14.

I agree 14 and 16 are enough. 12 is too thick.

My Tattu 4S LiPos use 12AWG wire for their XT60 pigtails. I also use 12AWG wire for the XT60 pigtail that is soldered to my 5" quad. Maybe I don't need anything that thick but that is what I use so that the pigtail on my quad isn't the bottleneck, and I never had a single electrical related issue on that quad in two years. I will also be using a 12AWG pigtail on my new 6S build. I guess everyone you ask will have their own opinion

I ordered 1 meter of 12,14 and 16 gauge in red and black.
I’ve used all one color but I like watching red go to red when plugging connectors together.

I’m still trying to figure out what DJI combo to get for FPV.I also will have to get some corrective lenses in the reader type lenses.
I must admit the radio system looks super super simple.I don’t need another transmitter but simplicity and reliability is something to strongly consider.

Anything XT-60 should be 12 AWG - Battery leads, charging leads (especially parrallel boards), and most importantly power leads to your FC/PDB/AIO.
