0 Thanks for reading! So I just rebuilt a 6s quad, and it drops out of the air with the slightest punch out. Motors stop, and won’t spin and BLHeli can’t connect to the ESC until disconnect and reconect power. Here’s my parts list:
-MAMBA 2308 1950KV 4-6S Motors
-MAMBA 506 50A 2-6S Dshot1200 4 IN 1 Blheli_32 Brushless ESC
-1500mah 100c 4s (I also have a 1000mah 100c 6s that I have not tried yet)
-5inch 5inch pitch 2 bladed props
-JBF4 flight controller
I’m curious if I just need to buy batteries that are nearly double the size. 50amp x 4 =200amp for the motors and esc, but only 1.5amps x 100c = 150 Amos out of the battery.
Should my battery exceed the possible pull of my motors and esc? Any other ideas what my problem could be? Any input would be greatly appreciated!

14 Do you get some disarm flag? When you punchout what voltage reading do you get?

0 Good questions.. I don’t have a black box. My flight controller does have a memory card slot that I assume is for that but I’ve never used it.. and to answer the voltage drop question I just went out there to test and when I plugged in my 6s 1000mah battery in, the video transmitter has appeared to go out. But I’m getting no video signal and I tested the goggles do work... so the plot thickens, and I don’t know if the voltage dropped when I punch it, but I do know I checked the voltage was notrmal when it was just sitting there. But to focus on the ESC issue: Should I be using a larger battery? Do you think that could be the issue?

388 It is going to be difficult to determine what happened without a log. You could have brownout due to voltage sag, but that is just one reason.

0 Okay so I got my video back. sounds like I need to look into getting black box setup. I’ll let you guys know what it says when I fly it, probably tomorrow. Thanks again everyone

0 Okay so i got the blackbox worked out. But i cant upload the actual file here. But the drone was sitting on my desk with the props off. I went to full throttle or close to it and the motors shut down. The blackbox file seems to have stopped here. Video feed and OSD was still working after the motors stopped however. i immediately played with the throttle and then re-armed it and got nothing out of the quad until powered off and back on. There was only one blackbox file. I plan to put props on tomorrow and fly it to get the recording of that too.
But the file just showed the motors spinning up to nearly full and as soon as the back right motor was at 100% for a quick second they all slowly came down and then the recording ends..
Im new to blackbox explorer so maybe theres something I'm missing.

388 You want to get a log of your flight and the punchout and crash. We want to see the log of when the quad shutoff.
Anyway, motors spinning out of control is common when the quad is on the bench without props. It will not tell you much.
It is dangerous, but you can strap the quad down and do a punchout. And see if you can replicate the problem. This way you don't risk damaging your quad. I would do it outside far from you.

the sound is a little off..

388 I haven't forgotten. Just haven't had time to look at the log yet.

388 So I looked at your log. It is pretty much as you said and showed in the video. Sounds like the FC is shutting off because the log stopped recording. And I don't know why the FC is shutting off. Your voltage was not low. It can't be the ESCs because everything shuts off at the same time. If you have another FC, I would try swapping.

0 04-Oct-2019, 01:46 AM (This post was last modified: 04-Oct-2019, 07:05 AM by lando.) Okay that makes sence. It’s a Joshua bardwell f4, first quad it’s been in. And I don’t have another FC, I’ll have to order one. Would you recommend against getting that same FC for any reason? And any thoughts on the battery size? What would be ideal?
im going to put the flight controller in another quad that currently has a broken FC, see if it works.
