I noticed something disturbing, the engines "crackle" in a strange way. You can see and hear it in the movie: What can this be caused by? • Posts: 12,098 Threads: 125 Likes Received: 3,739 in 2,836 posts Likes Given: 99 Joined: Feb 2017 Reputation: 388 Is the props hitting the pigtail? • Posts: 6 Threads: 1 Likes Received: 0 in 0 posts Likes Given: 1 Joined: Apr 2020 Reputation: 0 05-Apr-2020, 09:40 AM (This post was last modified: 05-Apr-2020, 09:41 AM by DawidMikulski.) You can get that noise if the props are slipping on the shaft. Hold each motor bell tight and see if you are able to push the prop round on the shaft. • Posts: 2,410 Threads: 136 Likes Received: 1,790 in 1,052 posts Likes Given: 3,302 Joined: Jan 2017 Reputation: 50 Im with Voodoo. Sounds and even looks like props are hitting something. Is the pigtail able to move into the prop disc area at all? Looks like you can see the quad twitch a bit when it clicks. • Posts: 6 Threads: 1 Likes Received: 0 in 0 posts Likes Given: 1 Joined: Apr 2020 Reputation: 0 The problem also occurs without props: • Posts: 21,397 Threads: 593 Likes Received: 9,029 in 6,683 posts Likes Given: 1,428 Joined: Jun 2018 Reputation: 795 (06-Apr-2020, 12:24 PM)DawidMikulski Wrote: The problem also occurs without props: Does the same thing happen if you spin up the motors in Betaflight Configurator using the sliders? If it does, then are ALL motors doing it or just a one (or a few) of them? That could be a motor desync, but a couple of things to check first... - Check the connections between the ESC and the flight controller (i.e. the pins in the wiring harness) in case you have one or more loose connections and tighten them if you have any doubts (see another post HERE).
- Check that none of the magnets inside the bell of the motors have come loose. You may have to physically remove the bell to get proper access to the inside to check this. It's not unknown for the magnet glue to fail and the Tyro range uses budget motors so that is a possibility. If you can narrow the issue down to just one or two motors then you will only need to open up those particular motors.

I checked all magnets in one motor "in a primitive way" and it looks like everything is ok. I'll check it. Thank you very much for the tips! • Posts: 21,397 Threads: 593 Likes Received: 9,029 in 6,683 posts Likes Given: 1,428 Joined: Jun 2018 Reputation: 795 If the connections all look fine (and you've tightened all the pins to be sure), then it may be a motor timing or momentary desync issue. A few more questions:- - What version of Betaflight are you running?
- What DSHOT speed are you running and are you running RPM filtering? Maybe it would be a good idea if you post both a "dump" and also a "diff all" so we can have a look over all the settings.
- Have you updated the firmware on the ESCs at all, or changed any of the ESC settings from their defaults in BLHeliSuite?

Ad.1 Betaflight / MATEKF405 (MKF4) 3.5.0 Aug 14 2018 / 03:43:51 (1d710afd7) MSP API: 1.40 Ad.2 DSHOT600 Ad.3 No, I haven't updated ESC and I didn't change anything in the BLHeliSuit. You may have a bad ESC board (again, Eachine aren't known for their quality with their budget kits), but try lowering the DSHOT speed to DSHOT300 and if that doesn't fix it, then DSHOT150. If it's a bad ESC board then neither of those lower values will fix the issue, but it's worth a try to see what the outcome of doing so is. • Posts: 12,098 Threads: 125 Likes Received: 3,739 in 2,836 posts Likes Given: 99 Joined: Feb 2017 Reputation: 388 I would reflash the ESC and see of the problem goes away. If not, then I would probably play around with the motor timing. And maybe even brake on stop. • Posts: 1,798 Threads: 57 Likes Received: 254 in 227 posts Likes Given: 102 Joined: Aug 2019 Reputation: 12 06-Apr-2020, 06:25 PM (This post was last modified: 06-Apr-2020, 06:26 PM by bLoWsMokE.) Like the others said it might be an issue with the ESC's but yo ucould try messing with the demag compensation in BLhei, maybe even raising the PWM frequency could help. Motor timing is another thing you could adjust that might help as well. I guess raising the demag comp would not get rid of it, it would just make it so you could fly more confidently WITH it. But there are some other things in BLheli you could possibly tweek that might have the potential to get rid of that... IF indeed that is what it is. What you could do is go into Beta flight and spin each motor individually and see which one is doing it. Then swap a motor that isn't doing it onto that spot and if it still happens then you know it's proly a bad ESC. If it does it with ALL the motors then you might just get lucky and be able to tweak something in BLheli to get rid of it. 'Ignore' is the route word of Ignorant. I changed the protocol to DSHOT300 and it helped! I have one question, does changing from DSHOT600 to DSHOT300 make any big difference for newbie? I understand that the main difference is the slower response time? I understand that the main difference is the slower response time? No. You won't even notice it. Most people who have an F4 flight controller and who move to Betaflight 4.1 and then configure RPM filtering have to drop to DSHOT300 to prevent the CPU from being overloaded. I've never heard anyone complain about the slower DSHOT frequency by doing that. If it's now working flawlessly on DSHOT300 then just leave it on that setting • |
