FC/ESC cable
#1
Exclamation
Hey there folks,

I have a problematic stack and it's not the FC or the ESC the culprit. It's the damn cable that connects them both!!
The stack itself it's the Diatone Mamba F405 Mini. The cable has to be in a certain position or it won't detect certains ESC within the 4-1.

Is there any solution to this? Maybe some electric cleaner, or any other solution that I can manage?

The thing is, when bench testing it's okay, but when doing any hard maneuver there's a slight chance that that damn cable will move and make an ESC fail.

Assuming there are no bent pins in either of the sockets, it might just be a case of needing to tighten up the grip of the plug pins on the socket pins. Take each pin out of the plugs one at a time and with some fine tipped pliers, very gently squeeze on either side of the "U" shaped part that clamps around the pin in the socket to close the gap up a bit. This will tighten up its grip on the socket pin. And while you have the pin out of the plug, inspect the crimping around the stranded wires with a magnifying glass for any obvious issues (loose crimp or crimped onto insulation instead of the tinned copper wires).

If that doesn't do the job - and you don't have a set of crimpers - CL Racing do a bunch of pre-crimped wires at different lengths and a bunch of JST-SH female connectors.

I'm half tempted to pick some up myself, because I hate lifing the little plastic tabs and trying to get the crimps out of those things ...

The ground is for dead people.

Well, I did manage to get the connectors with more grip and clean them using an electronics cleaner made by WD40 brand.
Works like a charm now Smile

If I had the Mk2 stack then I would just use the tiny solder pads they provide, since it's not I do have to resort to this.

How on EARTH did you get the wires out of there? I've tried tiny pointy tweezers to lift the plastic. I've tried pushing on the metal... They're so tiny.

Edit: managed to use a small needle to lift the white plastic up and pull out. Now to somehow squeeze them tighter.

Thank you for the suggestion SnowLeopardFPV. I think this might have done the trick. I used a small sewing pin to lift the white plastic and pull out the connectors. I then squeezed each one with tweezers to close the gap a little more between the U shape. I'll let you know if I put it all together and have more issues.

I wonder if this is my issue I just built a quad using the same f405 mamba stack I can cruze around fine but soon as I get a little crazy the front left motor cuts out it may restart before I hit the ground if I throttle down then save it but it will do the same thing going straight up punching out I don't understand it

Give the suggestion in post #2 above a try. If it works it's a free fix. You got nothing to lose by trying.

Are you sure you don't have Airmode turn off?

@joey - I think Voodoo is on the money. Looking at your last dump HERE, you have Air Mode switched off. Without Air Mode enabled, if you drop the throttle to zero, your motors will stall and your quad will fall out of the sky unless you are able to spin the motors back up and regain control again before it hits the deck. Switch Air Mode on with the following CLI commands and that should hopefully solve your issue.

Code:
feature AIRMODE
save
