Converting this guy (Geprc Cygnet Cx3) to Digital
#1
Hi guys!
So i've been in contact with geprc support and they replied there is no space on the cygnet cx3 145mm for the caddx vista with micro cam (like nebula or runcam racer 4)

But i still have my dubts on their answer honestly. I mean. Actually this quad mounts a RunCam Mini Split 2 PBD.
Checking the measures of the PBD, it's a 29mm x 29mm with 20x20mm mouting holes.

And checking the height of the Caddx Vista is 13mm which should perfectly fit in the height of the frame (check picture below) replacing the PBD and Runcam split Mini 2 camera?

What do you think?

Stripping the Vista heat sinks would probably make it fit and leave room for cooling.
I don't know how viable an idea that is for longevity of the Vista. 1200mw was obviously a design idea they didn't implement but nothing bad has come from this yet, that I've heard of anyway.

Enough people have been doing this lately I'm sure we'll start to see some failures soon enough if it's an issue.

But since the Vista is height 13mm (including the heat sinks), according to the measures i took, it should fit even if you don't remove it since the frame it's tall 17mm

It should fit without decasing the Vista unit. I had fitted vista in a frame with less height than the Cygnet 3.
The Dji camera width is 20mm while the Cygnet take 19mm cam. If you use Nebula Nano, you will need adaptor to fit.

oh dji camera width is only 20mm width???  i thought it was 27mm!  Then do you  think i could just force the two small metal camera holder of the frame to get 1mm room?

It's funny anyway how GEPRC support replied me two times that they are sure that caddx vista does not fit in the frame. Big Grin

Pretty easy to force the extra 1mm clearance. These support staff often don't know the products well. Wink

You can see my vista fitted to a pretty low frame.

Nice work there Jasper.

Ye i could force easly 1mm space, my concern is about the depth of the dji camera, i'm afraid i could not be able to increase the angle since it could touch the bottom frame...
do you know how much is dji camera in depth? Smile

On caddx website there are 2 different measures...

27x21x20,1 and 21x21x20,
and it's the same camera apparently...

I'm not home at the moment to measure it but I don't think it is very deep behind the camera mounting hole. Dji official site listed the depth as 22.1mm.

Depth from front lens element to back of square camera casing edge is 22.1mm but if you include round casing surrounding the cable at the back, it will be around 27mm.

Depth between the camera mounting hole and the round cable casing is 12mm.

No worries. The cap is for the 4 in 1 ESC.

i guess the question about deceasing should be different, why should there be any heatsink added? i see no reason on a quad.
there are vtx with a fan, i can not beleive this either, probably im wrong?

Vista fits fine: https://rotorbuilds.com/build/23369

Even some managed to cramp an air unit in it: https://rotorbuilds.com/build/21910

LoL i should send these pics and links to geprc support "yes i'm sure 100% that caddx vista doesn't fit in cygnet frame".

Yes, GEPRC support don't seem to be particularly good in my experience.

I've been trying to get hold of the STL files for the 3D printed parts that come with their Mark4 frame. First I was told that ALL the engineers had just gone on a whole month of annual leave. I guess it's nice for some. Then when I chased it up a month later they replied saying they would send me the printed parts with my next order. That was NOT what I asked for. Now they've apparently passed my request to their engineers again. I'm not going to hold my breath.
